Company descriptionThe Empty Stocking Fund/Battlefords District Food & Resource Centre is a registered charity that exists in partnership with the community to provide emergency food from our food bank along with other services and programs. Our aim is to assist those affected by poverty in the Battlefords.Our programs include:Food Bank: handing out emergency food hampers to those struggling with food insecurityChristmas Hampers: giving Christmas food hampers and toys to families in need.Food for Kids: giving food to elementary students from food insecure households, every FridayMilk for Kids: providing fresh milk to families with childrenCoats for Kids: the collection of winter clothing for childrenIncome Tax Preparation: free income tax service for low-income householdsPlant a Row Grow a Row: encouraging gardeners in the community to grow extra for the food bankFine Option Program: assist individuals with finding a community service opportunityWarehouse Program: providing food to other charities and nonprofits in the community and surrounding areaFood Bank Hub: a place to store food for Northern food banks to ease their burden finding transportation and storageWe uphold the principles of integrity, justice, charity, and compassion, and the dignity of human life. We continue to strive to understand and meet the needs of our donors and clients in the spirit of competence and compassion.We are a member of Food Banks of Saskatchewan and an affiliate member of Food Banks Canada and regulated by the ethical codes of these associations.Job descriptionThe Manager will demonstrate the following skills and abilities: Communication & computer skills-Ability to work with and manage volunteers-Ability to manage a variety of projects concurrently-Cultivate and maintain a positive image for the Food Bank. Responsible to the Executive Director and will work with diverse elements including: Maintain volunteer/client database, Engage, educate and train volunteers/fine option workers. Directing people to required tasks as needed. Ensure volunteers utilize food safety protocols. Ensure volunteers confidentiality form is signed and followed-Monitor items in volunteer Maintain building & truck. Ensure freezers and walk-ins are clean and organized-Garbage removal-Recycling-Ensure lot is clean and snow is removed-Cleaning of building-Prepare area for giving hampers-Ensure people are treated with dignity and respect-Ensure peoples privacy is kept-Ensure accurate information goes into client database-Ensure the clients are aware of how our hamper system works-Ensure Food Bank Hamper policy is followed-Ensure hamper levels are maintained-Adjust hamper list based on stock availability-Ensure food safety protocols-Ensure statistics are gathered over the month for all programs-Weigh all food donated to other organizations-Submit statistical data to Executive Director. Handle the shipping and receiving of Food. Organize and manage warehouse-Rotate stock as needed. Removal of cans that are too damaged or expired. Adhere to Food safety protocols-Identify overflow goods and goods we are in need of-Answer phones, check emails and reply to messages/questions in a timely manner. Inform ED of any shortages-Assist in fundraising campaigns-Coordinate fine option/community service personnel. Ensure the daily maintenance log is filled out. MUST Possess valid Class 5 drivers license and able to drive a large truck.
