Job Description

Library Programming and Technology Coordinator,North Battleford, SKThis is a management position based in North Battleford, SK, but requiring frequent travel toother service locations.DescriptionLakeland Library Region provides public library services to the cities, towns, and ruralcommunities of west-central Saskatchewan, through more than 30 service locations, reachingmore than 100,000 people.We are seeking an employee with fresh ideas for library programming and technologyimplementations, with strong technical knowledge or a willingness and aptitude to learn quickly.As a member of the management team, you will be working closely with the director, anddepartment heads to assist with grant writing and administration, project development andimplementation, as well as acting as a representative at front-line service locations andcommunity events.You will be required to plan, purchase and deploy technology and literacy kits to our servicelocations, and train staff in their use. This will entail a significant amount of outreach toIndigenous and rural communities, and a significant amount of coordination between servicelocations.Duties and Responsibilities Include: Collaboratively with the management team, assists to develop short and medium-termplans to meet the strategic goals of the library region. Understands and evaluates trends related to library programming and technology, andbriefs the management team through regularly scheduled presentations. Plans and tests library programs and trains front-line staff to deliver library programs,through prepared programing kits, and in-person instruction. Plans, tests, and deploys library technology, and trains front-line staff in its use, throughprepared technology kits, and in-person instruction. May be required to sit on boards and committees as needed, and as personal aptitudeallows. Represents the library region in various capacities, especially at community events. Drafts grant applications and reports. May draft press releases, communications and reports to funding bodies and corporateentities as needed, and as personal aptitude allows. Collaboratively with the management team, assists to develop and extend services toIndigenous and rural communities within the region. Participates in and contributes to collection development.Education, Training and Skill-Set: Library technician, technologist, administration, human resource, early childhoodeducation certification or degree, or library science degree, or other useful educationalattainment. Valid and up-to-date driver’s license and willingness to drive to any service location inthe region on short notice. Under the supervision of the I.T. Manager, has the ability to set-up and deploy newcomputer workstations to service locations and train front-line staff in their use.Assets: Knowledge and aptitude for collection development for children and juvenile age groups. Past library programming experience of any kind, but especially related to technologyinstruction. Past experience with library-related technology implementations. Past experience writing successful grant applications and administering grant funds.Hours of Work:Full-Time – regularly requires weekend work.Compensation:$18 to $25 per hour, depending on educational attainment and experienceThe Lakeland region contributes to a pension plan, and has a competitive benefits package andpaid vacation days.To Apply:Send a cover letter and resume in a single PDF to Jake Marion atdirector@lakeland.lib.sk.caReview of applicants will begin immediately.
