Shop Manager - TRA001124Employment Type: Permanent Full-timeLocation(s): SK-North West-North BattlefordMinistry: 016 HighwaysSalary Range: $5,711 - $7,425 MonthlyGrade: MCP.05.The Ministry of Highways, Fleet Services, is seeking a Shop Manager for its North Battleford Repair Depot.Under the general direction of the Northern Fleet Services Manager, you will work as a team leader in a large repair depot delivering repair, fabrication, procurement, and assembly work on the provincial fleet of equipment and vehicles.You will manage a team of over 30 Journeyperson and non-Journeyperson employees. You will also delegate and oversee work that includes providing a safe work environment for all employees and required level of service to internal clients, co-ordination of daily shop activities, collaboration with external stakeholders, and staff supervision and development. It is imperative for the Shop Manager to manage the team in accordance with the Ministry’s corporate values, while ensuring that the corporate culture is promoted and maintained through exemplary leadership, staff recognition and accountability processes.In addition to the required supervisory, work delegation, problem solving and customer service skills, the Shop Manager must have the required leadership and management competencies.Some of the key position requirements are:organize and prioritize work activities while taking into consideration safety and needs of employees, clients and stakeholders;direct and manage the Ministry’s truck assembly program;monitor monthly expenditures, assist in annual budget development, prepare various reports, and develop and implement administrative policies;recruit and select staff;manage activities associated with the inventory to maximize the productivity and ensure the provision of supplies for clients while keeping in mind the cost of inventory;input, edit, update, retrieve, maintain, format and transmit data with accuracy creating and generating queries, reports and other documents using word processing, databases, spreadsheets, communications and other software packages; andperform various economic analyses such as cost/benefit analyses relating to optimum repair/replacement strategies and provide written reports to document the results.You must have a solid understanding of the Ministry’s core business and the ability to forecast staffing requirements in order to maximize the efficiency of the depot and meet required level of service.Overnight travel to other locations in the province is occasionally required.We are committed to workplace diversity.Hours of Work: M - Monthly Out of ScopeNumber of Openings: 1Closing Date: May 13, 2021, 12:59:00 AM
