In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of Island Health (Vancouver Island Health Authority), patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position. Under general supervision, and reporting to the MRI supervisor or designate, as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team providing client-centered care, the MRI Technologist performs Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) special procedures. Duties include receiving and completing requisitions, forms and reports; preparing and monitoring supplies and equipment; patient monitoring; and operating acquisition equipment, including archiving acquired images, and computerized patient data systems.QUALIFICATIONS:Education, Training And ExperienceGraduation from an accredited Magnetic Resonance program and designation as a certified Technologist in Magnetic Resonance (RTMR) with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT). Three (3) years recent, related experience, including two (2) years MRI experience in an acute setting; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.CDH and WCG only: CPR Certificate - Basic Life Support (BCLS) levelSkills And AbilitiesDemonstrate knowledge of image quality assessment and control and diagnostic equipment procedures, radiation safety and quality control standards and practices.Demonstrate proficient skills with the Microsoft suite of applications, including Word and Excel, and medical imaging computerized applications, such as PACS.Ability to organize and coordinate workloadAbility to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writingAbility to establish priorities in collaboration with othersAbility to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary health care teamAbility to problem solveAbility to foster good public relationsAbility to operate related equipment, including computer utilizing a variety of specialized software applications and electronic information systemsDemonstrated willingness to keep current with technological developments in the fieldPhysically able to perform the duties of the position
