Your Responsibilities :As a Senior Demolition Engineer, your role is multifaceted and critical in contributing to our mission. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Managing multi-disciplinary teams working on a diverse range of demolition and site closure projects, including power plants, mine sites, industrial buildings, and other interesting and complex facilities located in Canada, across North America and around the Globe.
  • Coordinating the setup of work packages, systems, routines, and controls to facilitate execution of decommissioning and closure studies for our clients that address environmental, regulatory, safety, and financial aspects associated with site closure, remediation, and future land use planning, including the preparation of relevant study management documentation.
  • Undertaking existing condition assessments, coordinating hazardous building materials assessments (designated substances surveys), decommissioning and demolition options analysis, closure planning, developing environmental remediation and waste management plans with other technical experts, coordinating regulatory permitting and approvals, and ensuring high-quality delivery of associated reports.
  • Conducting quantity take-offs of building materials to understand volumes and types of materials that will be generated during the demolition process, utilizing this information to develop effective and sustainable waste management plans, ensuring that waste is disposed of properly, and reducing the environmental impact of projects.
  • Assisting and/or leading the development of comprehensive cost-estimates for decommissioning, demolition, closure and rehabilitation of sites to assist our clients and project stakeholders establish realistic budgets and financial plans.
  • Preparation of high-quality, multidisciplinary proposals for decommissioning and demolition planning projects, hazardous materials surveys, and site closure studies, showcasing your project management and communication skills to coordinate the preparation and submission of bid documents.
  • Lead and undertake the preparation of comprehensive technical specifications and bid documents for successful execution of demolition and site closure projects, while providing essential technical support to our clients during project execution. Additionally, oversee contractors during project execution to ensure that work is carried out efficiently and in compliance with all relevant requirements and regulations.
  • Tracking and reporting of project progress against schedule and budget as per client and GHD requirements.
  • Taking an active role in client meetings, liaising with the client representative with respect to work progress and deliverables.
  • Demonstrating leadership in safety and sustainability management across technical activities.
  • Build effective relationships with the Business Group #39;s key existing clients, while also expanding the client base.
  • Serve as the client manager for key clients and develop/execute associated client engagement plans.
  • Develop and mentor rising talent within the Business Group.
  • Acts as Project Manager or Project Director on appropriate projects.
  • Attract strategic hires for the Business Group to develop the business.
Qualificationsamp; Experience : Scientist will also be considered if they meet the qualification requirements.
  • A bachelor #39;s or advanced degree in a relevant field, such as civil engineering, building science, environmental science, structural engineering, or related disciplines.
  • 10+ years of direct technical experience in executing decommissioning, demolition, remediation and/or site closure projects.
  • Experience in effectively managing multi-disciplinary teams, including ability to track and report project progress against schedule and budget, meeting client and company requirements.
  • Strong project management and leadership skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to actively engage with clients, presenting work progress and deliverables.
  • Demonstrated leadership in safety and sustainability management within technical activities.
  • Proven ability to deliver technical assignments with a high level of accountability.
  • Familiarity with environmental, regulatory, safety, and financial aspects associated with decommissioning, demolition, site closure, remediation, and future land use planning.
  • Expertise in conducting existing condition assessments, hazardous building materials assessments, quantity take-offs, decommissioning and demolition options analysis, cost estimating and closure planning.
  • Experience in developing environmental remediation and waste management plans, as well as coordinating regulatory permitting and approvals is an asset.
  • Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail
  • Experience in preparing high-quality, multidisciplinary proposals.
  • A valid driver #39;s license and access to a vehicle (required for the role).
