Job Description

Animal Care Attendant, VCA Canada Mississauga-Oakville Veterinary Emergency and Referral Hospital – Surgery DepartmentAbout the Opportunity!VCA Canada Mississauga-Oakville Surgery department is currently recruiting for a dependable and outgoing Animal Care Attendant to join our clinic. This part-time/full-time opportunity includes a range of responsibilities, which directly attributes to the efficient and effective daily operation of the department. Previous experience in a Veterinary Hospital is an asset. A few attributes and qualifications are:

  • Caring for our patients; feeding, walking and offering a gentle voice of assurance
  • Ensure animal housing or enclosure is clean, sanitary and comfortable
  • Create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for patients and pet parents
  • Excellent customer service skills; a real aptitude for putting pets and pet parents at ease and creating a welcoming environment
  • General housekeeping duties including but not limited to restocking, cleaning prep areas, maintaining sterility within the surgery suites, proper instrument sterilization
  • Willingness to learn more regarding veterinary services and updated medical procedures
  • Compassion and nurturing attitude
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations and maintain a high quality of care in a busy environment
  • Ability to adapt in changing situations
  • Working with a team focus, assisting the veterinary staff with various procedures, tasks and treatments
