Anti-Human Trafficking Case & Outreach WorkerSexual Assault and Violence Intervention Services (SAVIS) of Halton, a non-profit organization, provides free, confidential, and nonjudgmental 24-hour support to all survivors of violence. SAVIS advocates against violence in the community at large and promotes prevention through community education.JOB SUMMARYWorking under the general supervision of the Manager of Anti-Human Trafficking, the Anti-Human Trafficking Case & Outreach Worker provides crisis response and continuum of care to trafficked and/or sexually exploited individuals from age 14, from the crisis stage to the stabilization stage. The Anti-Human Trafficking Case Worker provides a strong mentoring relationship and encourages safe and healthy decision making, nurtures independence and skill development, and provides connections and referrals to community resources required for positive health outcomes. The Anti-Human Trafficking Case Worker works directly with individuals within Halton Region, and may include travel within Central Ontario and the GTA to provide one-on-one client support, case management and counselling. The Anti-Human Trafficking Case Worker also acts as an advocate with emphasis placed on developing resources and connections to community supports and services.This position will also be responsible for delivering quality educational, social, and informative workshops to community agencies and closed groups, upholding the values of anti-black racism, anti-racism, anti-oppression, and working from harm-reduction and trauma-informed approaches.The individual in this position will bring in-depth analysis of the systemic and personal barriers experienced by women, Two-Sprit, trans, non- binary and gender diverse individuals in accessing services and supports related to human trafficking and sexual exploitation.Duties and Expected Outcomes DIRECT SERVICE DELIVERY & CASE MANAGEMENT · Build positive, respectful, and non-judgmental relationships with human trafficked and/or sexually exploited individuals and their support systems.· Provide one-on-one client support and case management, and acts as an advocate with emphasis placed on developing appropriate resources and connections to community supports and services.· Arrange to provide individuals with appropriate community resources such as counselling services, education / employment supports, housing, and various other types of programs and services based on the individualized plan of care and/or accessibility within their home or chosen community.· Record and assess progress on each individual’s goals using a client-centered and strength-based approach on an ongoing basis.· Demonstrate knowledge, skills, training and experience with providing services to clients with single or polysubstance use, using a harm-reduction approach.· Possess solid understanding of the Gender Based Violence Sector, Housing Connections Special Priority Program, Criminal Injury Compensation Applications, Victim Impact Statements, Child Protection legislation, Legal system and the systemic and political barriers facing individuals escaping human trafficking and sexual exploitation.· Demonstrate excellent crisis counselling, supportive counselling, conflict mediation and de-escalation skills.OUTREACH · Under the direction of the Manager, Anti-Human Trafficking, identify and participate in community committees, networks and initiatives that address systemic issues related to human trafficking and sexual exploitation.· Expand and grow relationships and networks with community resources and provide collaborative support in order to accomplish client goals.· Develop and implement workshops/group-programming for survivors of human trafficking.· Keep current of trends, community resources and developments in the anti-human trafficking sector by participating in workshops, conferences, and continued professional development.· Create and distribute program material to service providers and community groups.QUALIFICATIONS· Completion of a University Degree or College Diploma in Social Services/Social Work /Gender Studies or other relevant fields.· A minimum three years’ experience working in a case management / counselling capacity with Two-Sprit, women, men, trans, non-binary and gender diverse individuals who have experienced sexual abuse and/or violence in relationships.· Demonstrated knowledge, skills, training and experience with providing services to clients with single or polysubstance use, using a harm-reduction approach.· Experience and training in working from an anti-racism/anti-oppression framework, Trauma-Informed care, mental health recovery model.· Knowledge of the impact of systemic marginalization on survivors of sexual assault and violence including sexism, racism, poverty, homophobia, transphobia, and ableism.· Demonstrate understanding of the social determinants of health and knowledge of accessing and referring clients to appropriate community resources and services.· Participate in developing, implementing, and reviewing program work plans and delivery models.· Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, Access, etc.).· Successful candidate requires a vulnerable sector check, proof of COVID-19 vaccination upon hire.The hours of work are 35 hours a week Monday to Friday, but may vary as needed (this may include evenings and weekends).
