Job Description

GVA Lighting is looking for an IT System Administrator who will be responsible for maintaining computer systems and networks, ensuring networks security, and assisting end users with various hardware and software requests in Oakville, Ontario. The ideal candidate will be someone who thrives in fast-paced environments and takes pride in delivering timely and accurate responses to end users. Responsibilities:Direct, manage and coordinate the IT functions for the company; establish targets, execute the activity, monitor and report on results to the management;Take the full ownership on company’s IT infrastructure and processes;Create and maintain departmental manual and procedures, using best practices of the industry;Providing support for all software and application installation on desktops, laptops and servers including the configuration of MS Windows, MSOffice, TCP/IP, VPN, SolidWorks, ERP (Epicor), Altium Desugner, Printers, Shared Folders etc.Providing support for all hardware desktop technology - PC’s, laptops, printers, phones and related peripheral devices;Serve as the expert and prime responsible person on cybersecurity protection, detection, response and recovery:Monitor All Operations and Infrastructure;Maintain All Security Tools and Technology;Monitor Internal and External Policy Compliance;Monitor Regulation Compliance related to Cyber Security;Work to Reduce Risk of cyber attacks;Implement New Technologies for Cyber Security;Audit Policies and Controls Continuously;Ensure Cybersecurity Stays on the Organizational Radar;Map out the Security Incident Response Program;Design and implement Backup and Disaster Recovery plans;Be transparency to the Top Management: communicate the state of the company’s information security program, including your successes and failures.Troubleshooting and catering to daily requests from employees, including adding/deleting users (on Windows Active Directory Domain), maintaining email groups, and other miscellaneous IT requests for on-site employees and remote office employees;Investigating user problems, determining, testing and implementing appropriate solutions;Hands-on networking (Cisco Meraki, Ringcentral, Synology) - routers, switches, firewalls, VOIP , NAS, etc.;Managing vendor relationship, ensuring timely/accurate communication and resolution of issues; Monitoring billing/expenses against contacts;Documenting and maintaining inventory of all computing equipment including PC’s, monitors, laptops, printers, scanners and other peripheral equipment;Maintaining network and conducting PC preventive maintenance of company antivirus to ensure data integrity;Managing the acquisition and installation of new hardware and substitution of defective components – servers, laptops, desktops, smartphones, printers, etc.;Testing new software applications and recommending purchases where required;Developing, writing and maintaining end-user documentation;Maintaining confidentiality, security policies, and acceptable use policies regarding the information being processed, stored or accessed by all users on the network;Overseeing backup requirements, replication and storage; restoring and recovering corrupted databases/files when required;Maintaining and overseeing security and surveillance systems;Manage IT staff;Other duties as assigned.
