Job Description

Job Details:Part-Time (Non-Union T)Posting Status:Open to all current Town of Oakville employees and external applicants.This posting is for current and future opportunities and will be filled on an as needed basis. Applications will be considered for any openings that become available between now and June 30, 2022.Job ResponsibilitiesUnder the direction of the Recreation Assistant the Convener of Oakville Recreational Leagues will oversee the day to day activity of a League (Hockey, Basketball, Pickleball and/or Volleyball) and will serve as a connection between the league participants and facility management.Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the forming of teams and league schedules
  • Responsible for daily league administration including:
  • Filling out game sheets
  • Updating standings and statistics
  • Providing customer service to the teams
  • Monitoring that participants are registered
  • Enforcing disciplinary actions if required
  • Providing an understanding of league rules and guidelines
  • Conflict resolution
  • Player skill evaluation and team level determination
  • Assuring that games run on time
  • Collecting game sheets
  • Posting Game times and League news
  • Scorekeeping may be required
  • Providing team feedback as well as personal feedback on ways to improve the league
Qualifications/Skills:
  • 1-2 years of league convener experience
  • Knowledge of Class Software, Microsoft Office Software (Word and Excel)
  • Knowledge of league software’s are an asset (Sport Engine)
  • Knowledge of hockey rules and leagues
  • Experience in customer service an asset
Time Requirements:
  • Availability 2-3 days a week Sunday - Saturday
  • 4 hours per shift
  • Available to work in the evenings
