Job Description

Tandet has received the Top Fleet Employer award for 3 consecutive years now.The system administrator is responsible for the upkeep, configuration, and reliable operation of core computer systems and networks, such as servers, switches, routers, etc. The system administrator seeks to ensure that the uptime, performance, resources, and security of the devices they manage meet the needs of the organization and end-users.To meet these needs, the system administrator may acquire, install, or upgrade computer components and software; provide routine automation; maintain security policies; troubleshoot; or offer technical support for projects.Job Duties

  • Perform preventative maintenance on systems to ensure proper functioning and uptime/availability.
  • Monitor and maintain daily backup and replication to DR-site operations.
  • Implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures and perform regular tests of these procedures.
  • Ensure security of IT infrastructure by implementing and monitoring security tools.
  • Maintain, patch, and update physical host environment, Hypervisor, virtualized systems, and storage, including physical and virtual SAN.
  • Plan and perform BIOS and Firmware updates on all hardware, including switches, physical servers, etc.
  • Maintain and configure Microsoft/Office 365 based Applications and Services, including Email, SharePoint, Azure AD and others.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issues.
  • Research and plan the installation and configuration of systems like servers, switches, etc.
  • Research, plan and apply operating system updates, patches, and configuration changes.
  • Continuously improve the automatization of monitoring and alerts on all systems.
  • Manage, renew SSL certificates before expiration.
  • Reach out to vendor support if needed to solve critical issues.
  • Ensure that the network infrastructure healthy in all locations, including Wi-Fi networks.
  • Maintain camera system software, monitor proper functioning of camera systems.
  • Manage and maintain hardware equipment in data centers.
  • Write and maintain system documentation that details the Tandet network and systems, including compatibility documentation and project documentation.
  • Visit remote locations if required to support 3rd party vendors, troubleshoot hardware issues, or replace equipment.
  • Stay up to date on developments that apply to technology used by Tandet.
  • Effectively manage time and workload – set appropriate priorities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
