Job Description

Field Technician - Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE)(Utility Locator, Damage Prevention Technician) Oakville, ONPay Rate - $20 to $30 an hour (based on experience) – Full Time PermanentJoin our T2 team, we specialize in gathering information for asset planning and reducing the unknowns related to the existing underground, assisting infrastructure projects across Canada.   • The primary responsibility of this role is to complete investigations in the field, accurately mapping the alignment of various underground utilities (water, gas, hydro, telecom, etc.). You will have the best equipment available in the industry including but not limited to; cable locate equipment, ground penetrating radar, GPS survey, Sondes, Lidar, Vacuum Excavation and other measuring devices.
  • Gather other important utility related information which includes surveying utility related surface features, chamber investigations/measurements, aerial inventories and condition assessment.
  • Oversee the operation of subcontractors onsite
  • Ensure optimum usage and maintenance of equipment and vehicles
  • Trouble-shoot/co-ordinate and effectively communicate with engineers, project managers and directors to ensure optimal client satisfaction
  • Complete paperwork including record keeping and simple mathematics legibly and accurately
  • Complete detailed accurate daily reports, forms and field sketches, both electronically and by hand
  • Perform duties such as maintenance of traffic, making basic field measurements and performing other geophysical prospecting
  • Represent and communicate on behalf of T2 when encountering third parties in the field
  • Review project deliverables to ensure quality
  • Learn, Understand and Follow T2 Utility Engineers processes
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Excellent safety and attendance record
  • Ability to read and interpret utility record drawings
  • Must have good communication & problem solving skills
  • Team player with a positive attitude
  • Valid drivers license with clean driving record
  • Ability to travel, including out of town travel for up to two weeks at a time
  • Ability to work outdoors in all climates
  • Mechanically inclined
  • Physically fit and able to walk frequently on uneven surfaces and lift approximately 50 lbs.
  • The following are not mandatory but would be a definite asset:
o Understanding of conductive and non-conductive utility designating through the application of related equipmento Utility related construction experienceo Damage Prevention Technician Certificationo Confined space entry trainingo OTM Book 7 training o Knowledge of ASCE 38Benefits:
