Job Description

Job SummaryReporting to the SVP, CFO the VP, Modeling will provide leadership and oversight of the overall strategy and direction of all aspects of the Company’s modeling engagement. As a key member of the leadership team, the VP, Modeling will help identify solutions to business challenges and foster a culture of collaboration, ownership, and inclusion across the business.Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of modeling/data science Sr. Managers and Professionals in the definition and development of predictive modeling solutions to address key business needs including overseeing the design, development, validation, calibration, documentation, approval, monitoring, and reporting of predictive models.
  • Work in close collaboration with IT on the implementation and support of validated models.
  • Consult with key stakeholders in the business to derive predictive modeling solutions aimed at investigating complex business problems whose outcome will enhance decision making across the organization.
  • Provide leadership and direction through Senior Leaders and Professionals. Coach and develop the team in advanced analytics and predictive modeling to work in consultation with the business and IT to turn ideas into actual prototypes / proof of concepts and deployed solutions.
  • Oversee the translation of complicated modeling concepts to easy-to-understand language in order to effectively communicate modeling findings and solutions to business users and senior executives across functions and within the business
  • Foster a collaborative culture within the Modeling team and IT to develop and deploy model-based solutions.
  • Oversee the execution of multiple strategic projects, many of which will have tight timelines.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree or PhD in a quantitative discipline such as (Math/Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Finance, Actuarial Science).
  • 5+ years of progressive leadership experience managing and developing a team of modeling/data science professionals.
  • 7+ years’ experience in predictive analytics preferably within a financial institution.
  • Strong financial business acumen.
  • Proven experience in developing and deploying predictive modeling and machine learning solutions.
  • Proven technical ability with a variety of cloud-based machine learning / advanced analytics tool sets including SQL, Python and R.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to proactively identify issues/trends and recommend solutions.
  • Demonstrates strategic/forward thinking and ability to communicate effectively to all stakeholders including conveying complex ideas to both a technical and non-technical audience.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts to all levels of the organization including the Board of Directors.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and organizational awareness.
  • Resourceful, self-starter, proactive, results-oriented and a team player.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage projects and deliver results in a rapidly changing environment.
