Job Description

Equivalent Experience In this position you will be reporting to the Lab Manager . As the Waste Water Treatment Specialist, you will be responsible for the maintenance and functional management of the wastewater treatment system including site wide support of hazardous waste management. You will also be the primary contact for all additions and tank chemical maintenanceLocation: OakvilleWork Shift: Day shift (Monday - Friday, 7:00 am - 3:00 pm) and Afternoon Shift (Monday - Friday, 3:00 pm - 11:00 pm)Primary Responsibilities:

  • Operating, trouble shooting, and performing preventative & scheduled maintenance for the wastewater treatment system, deionizer unit, scrubber filters, filter press, probes, filters, pumps, plating pits, process tanks, sludge removal/disposal, solution replenishment, chemical handling, storage & disposal
  • Perform related departmental housekeeping & 5S activities
  • Coordinate hazardous & non hazardous waste from all areas of the facility, including oils, coolants, sealants, oily rags, scrap metals, contractor waste etc.
  • Make all chemical adds as required from lab analysis
  • Lead tank pump outs and refills based off scheduled and unscheduled maintenance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Transportation of Dangerous Goods Training
  • Previous experience in waste water treatment
  • Demonstrated knowledge of industrial wastewater treatment operations, chemical treatment, handling, storage & disposal, experienced with pumps, probes & filters, confined space requirements
  • Laboratory experience related to use of IC, ICT instrumentation for analysis
  • Familiarity with Ontario Reg 347 for the Management of Hazardous Waste
  • Experience in management of waste, onsite, storage, labeling and preparation for disposal
  • Demonstrated knowledge of emergency response and spill clean-up procedures would be considered an asset
  • Must be action oriented, a team player & be able to work with the minimum of supervision
  • Successful candidate must meet all requirements under ITAR and CGD
