Job Description

Plains Midstream Canada (PMC) is an industry-leading transportation and midstream provider specializing in transportation, storage, processing and marketing solutions for crude oil and natural gas liquids (NGLs). PMC also operates strategically-located facilities for crude oil and NGL storage, separates NGL from natural gas and fractionates NGL into pure liquid petroleum gas (LPG) products, including propane and butane.Fueled by our strong leadership team and a dedicated employee base, combined with our expertise in marketing, logistics and our asset base, PMC is well-positioned to provide our customers with flexible, value-added services now and in the future.We are looking for highly-motivated individuals who enjoy working as part of a team in a dynamic and entrepreneurial work environment.Plains has an exciting opportunity for a Health, Safetyamp; Environment Advisor based in our district field office in Olds, AB. This position will report to the Manager, HSE West and be responsible for supporting the Company #39;s environment, health, safety and regulatory compliance programs within the company #39;s Crude, LPG and Trucking operations.Responsibilities:

  • Providing necessary direction, leadership and HSE support to the Olds district area field operations;
  • Bringing sound knowledge of Provincial and Federal Regulations and regulatory compliance;
  • Conducting Health and Safety Inspections and Safety Audits as required;
  • Leading incident investigations and making remedial recommendations as required;
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of strategic HSE programs and plans;
  • Conducting HSE training programs to instruct employees and drivers on safe work practices and emergency procedures; and
  • Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with employees, management, drivers and various regulatory agencies.
Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of experience in effective loss management programs such as safety, security, emergency response, regulatory and environmental management;
  • A CRSP / CSP certified HSE professional is preferred but not required;
  • 10+ years of experience in incident investigation and root cause analysis;
  • Experience in Hazard identification and Hazard communication and control measures;
  • Experience in the Oil and Gas industry would be considered an asset;
  • Knowledgeable in the safe operation of Motor Carriers;
  • Strong knowledge of Federal and Provincial Occupational, Health and Safety Legislation, National Safety Code for Motor Carriers and US 49 CFR (DOT) regulationsamp; reporting requirements;
  • Exceptional team building and interpersonal skills with the ability to promote and encourage others to be committed to the requirements of the EH amp;S program;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Excellent computer skills with a solid understanding of the Microsoft suite of products; and
  • A valid driver #39;s license with a clean driver #39;s abstract and the ability to travel throughout Alberta.
  • Cleared criminal history (background) and satisfactory reference checks.
  • Compliance with the Company #39;s drug and alcohol policy including pre-employment D amp;A testing.
