Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTIONHeavy Equipment Technician The successful applicant will :

  • Perform inspections, maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs of truck and trailer combinations and various off-road equipment including compaction equipment, dozers, excavators, graders, loaders, paving equipment, skidsteers, light trucks and small engines,
  • Diagnose electrical, hydraulic and mechanical troubles,
  • Perform preventative, planned and unplanned maintenance, repair, overhaul, troubleshoot and test mechanical and electronic equipment according to company standards,
  • Complete maintenance records and documentation as required,
  • Work in a shop setting when not in the field,
  • Work from a service truck in the field as required with possible overnight stays and
  • Participate as a vital team member and contribute to the success of the organization which may involve participation in other areas of technical and field support, as required, and
  • Perform duties in a safe, timely and cost effective manner.
The successful applicant MUST HAVE:
  • Alberta HET certification or out of province HET certification with Interprovincial Red Seal,
  • Licensed CVIP certification,
  • Your own tools,
  • Basic welding knowledge and skills (welding certification is an asset),
  • Class 5 license with clean abstract (valid Class 1 or 3 license is an asset),
  • Strong attention to detail,
  • The ability to self-start; work independently as well as work with a team,
  • The ability to multi-task and shift priorities as required,
  • A flexible work schedule and be willing to work overtime and weekends during the construction season (May November),
  • Great communication and interpersonal skills
  • Be in good physical shape in order to work in physically demanding conditions,
