What you #39;ll be working on:
  • Assist in the development of new products from concept to production, including preparations of prototypes for internal and customer evaluations.
  • Coordinate and support with bench-top and plant trails, ensuring required ingredients and materials are sourced and qualified in collaboration with Purchasing and QA.
  • Gather and organize data to develop and maintain product specifications, including physical, sensory, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support regulatory and label development, ensuring products comply with CFIA, USDA, and FDA regulations.
  • Source, evaluate, and document new ingredients, packaging solutions, and processing techniques.
  • Maintain and update technical documents, trial records, and R amp;D data within the internal system.
  • Conduct sensory evaluations (cook-off) and document findings.
  • Coordinate the collection, labelling, packaging and distribution of samples for customers as required.
  • Work cross-functionally with Sales, Production, Purchasing, and QA to ensure successful project execution and product launch.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary education/degree in Food Science or related field is required or equivalent education and work experience.
  • 1-2 years working experience in food processing or food manufacturing.
  • Must be capable of tasting samples of meat and vegetable products.
  • A valid driver #39;s license and access to a vehicle.
  • Experience with nutrition labeling or Regulatory is considered a strong asset.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and third-party software).
  • Knowledge of SAP/ERP systems is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster cooperation and teamwork within the workplace.
  • Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills with emotional intelligence.
  • Able to work in a cool environment (we mean that both ways- we #39;re awesome and our plant is kept at a cool 2-4-degree temperature).
  • A creative problem solver, who enjoys engaging in challenging activities.
  • Ability to apply basic math skills including conversions of measurements and formulas required.
  • Ability to work on a flexible schedule to accommodate plant trials and startups.
  • A creative problem solver, who enjoys engaging in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to lift to 50 pounds.
