Job Description

Position: Environmental Healthamp; Safety TechnologistLocation: Orillia, ONSalary: $60,000 - $70,000 per year (depends on experience and qualifications)Industry: Manufacturing / EH amp;S / Healthamp; SafetyEmployment Term: Full-Time / Permanent Rolesamp; Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the development, implementation, monitoring and maintaining of EHS strategies, policies, and programs within the company.
  • Manage and oversee various elements of pollution control, waste management, recycling, environmental health, conservation, and renewable energy initiatives, as needed.
  • Offer support for environmental health and safety within operations, with a primary emphasis on ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Plan and conduct training sessions related to environmental health and safety.
  • Take part in emergency response efforts and investigations related to environmental factors or influenced by them.
  • Gather samples from the environment, such as air, water, and dust particles, and organize and keep records of relevant documentation for testing and monitoring purposes.
  • Conduct assessments, analyze findings, and provide reports on environmental performance to stakeholders and regulatory authorities as needed and keep the (WHMIS) documentation and CCOHS regulations up to date.
  • Advocate for and increase awareness regarding the impact of emerging environmental issues, whether related to legislation or best practices, on corporate, ethical, and social responsibility.
  • Ensure that activities align with the overarching goals and objectives of the Environmental, Health and Safety department.
  • Perform additional duties as needed.
Qualificationsamp; Experience:
  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental, Health and Safety, or a related field, from a recognized college or university.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in an Environmental Health and Safety position in a manufacturing setting.
  • Previous experience in a Foundry is considered an asset.
  • Proficiency in working with WSIB applications and familiarity with early-and-safe-return to work programs is preferred.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including the use of Microsoft Office Suite is expected.
  • Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal.
