Job Description

Quality Control/Field Service Inspector serves in a technical advisory capacity to external customers of the organization on all post-sales activities. Your responsibilities Under the supervision of the Quality/Field service Manager, the day-to-day duties of the Field Service / Quality Technician include but are not limited to: Project advisory for installations on customer`s site Quality Control Inspection of materials and equipment in house, at suppliers and customers. Inspect parts /equipment and implement corrective/preventive action. Trouble shoot and suggest repair solutions. Advisory for equipment repairs, upgraded, operation and maintenance. Provide detail feedback to Engineering Department on future product design improvements. Liaise with Customer Service Department as required. Documents successes/difficulties in the operation of FLS’s systems and equipment and provides records for future analysis. Prepare progress and status reports. Perform technical training and provide technical assistance for customers. Presales and after sales equipment inspections to specifications, drawings, and purchase order requirements Receiving/in-process/final inspection at suppliers. Provide feedback to Engineering Department when errors are found during manufacturing. Attend project management meeting when required. Expedite all types of contracts at suppliers. Develop on-going business relationships with customers to secure future business. Promote a culture of personal and team safety, including others who may be affected by the company’s operational activities. The above noted responsibilities are not intended to be an exhaustive list and are subject to change at the discretion of management. What you bring Be able to work independently with general supervision. Very good understanding of welding, machining, assembling, and painting processes and able to read, understand and interpret Engineering drawings including GD amp;T, specifications, and standards. Sound working knowledge of visual weld defect identification and inspection methods and good understanding of NDT techniques (LPI/MPI/UT). A technologist diploma in Welding, Materials or Mechanical Engineering Technology and seven to ten years QA/QC experience in heavy industry. Uses computers to prepare inspection reports, NCR/CAR reports and job status. Plans and performs inspections in line with QMS requirements and assures FLS’s compliance to ISO 9001/14001/45001 and procedural requirements. Must have a good understanding of quality concepts used for low volume/engineered to order manufacturing environment. Able to work overtime as required. The Quality Control/Field Service Inspector position is one that requires the ability to adapt easily to varied ways of performing tasks, while dealing with people. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral are required to interact with both internal and external customers. The position requires regular travel to customer site locations and/or field work. Locationamp; Travel You will work at and from the Company’s office in Orillia, Ontario. Our customer base is located primarily throughout Canada, USA. You will be required to travel as required by the Company on a regular basis and therefore, you are required to have and to maintain a valid passport throughout the Term. The Company will reimburse or pay for expenses for such travel, including accommodation and meal allowances, in accordance with the Company’s travel and expense policies and procedures, as amended from time to time by the Company in its sole discretion. If you are required to obtain a visa and/or work permit from a foreign country to properly perform your duties for the Company, the Company will reimburse you for the application fees and any other reasonable and pre-approved associated expenses. To the extent that the Company assists you with obtaining any visa and/or work permit, it will not be liable in any way if you are unsuccessful in obtaining or renewing the necessary visa and/or work permit. The Company may require you to provide it with a copy of the visa and/or work permit at any point during the Term. This position maintains a high visibility within FLSmidth and requires high level dealings with FLSmidth customers. Mechanical knowledge of underground mining equipment such as mine hoists, shaft conveyances, rope attachments, sheaves, ore loading stations and other equipment used in underground mining, is required. Hours of Work You will be required to work during the Company’s usual hours of operation or as agreed to by your manager.
