The college offers a wide range of market-driven programs in a number of different disciplines including culinary, hospitality, tourism, horticulture, business, information technology, media, art, design, general arts, science, skilled trades, justice, emergency services, health and engineering technology, enabling students to develop the skills required to meet the demands of today’s job market.Durham College seeks an exceptional leader as its Associate Vice President, Academic (Enrolment and International) to work collaboratively with the Academic Leadership Team in achieving the College’s strategic mission, vision and academic goals. Reporting to the Executive Vice President, Academic, the Associate Vice President, Academic (Enrolment and International) serves as the senior leader for two departments – the Office of the Registrar and the International Education Office. The incumbent will provide strategic leadership, direction and management of staff, resources and business systems within the portfolio to ensure services and programming are designed and delivered to support a diverse student population. The functions of the Office of the Registrar encompass domestic student admissions, registration, student records, scheduling, certification of graduates, convocation, fee assessment, reporting and the management of the college’s student information system. The International Education Office manages international recruitment and admissions, international mobility, international partnerships and projects, international student supports and success strategies, internationalization of the college, and the development of new revenue-generating opportunities, partnerships and business initiatives. The incumbent will enhance the overall International student experience by supporting the cultural, social and general well-being of all international students studying at Durham College as well as Durham College students studying abroad. The incumbent will oversee and lead the development, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and continuous improvement of the college’s multi- year Internationalization and Global Engagement Plan and Enrolment Management Plan, in support of the college’s Academic Plan. The incumbent will also actively participate in providing leadership, strategic planning and administrative decision-making affecting college wide services and business plan objectives.They will represent the college and its leadership team both internally and externally to various stakeholders and establish positive relationships with educational and business partners.The successful candidate will possess a Master’s degree, with a Ph.D. being an asset. They will have a minimum of seven years of significant and progressive post-secondary leadership experience with a demonstrated track record of excellence in management, innovation and team development. The incumbent will possess strong administrative skills, including a proven capacity to handle considerable detail, manage budgets, motivate teams, set goals and achieve objectives, cope with a demanding and rewarding workload, and remain calm and focused while under pressure. They will have outstanding communication, negotiation, and planning skills, with the ability to deal with a wide range of individuals with diverse backgrounds and needs. The successful candidate will have expertise in developing and maintaining partnerships with other educational institutions and in broader international communities. Finally, the successful candidate will have demonstrated skills in conflict resolution, strong advocacy skills to support students and staff, as well as familiarity with the changing landscapes in both the international education and enrolment services sectors.Durham College provides accommodations to applicants with disabilities throughout our hiring process.
