Job Description

SummaryThe Automotive Body Shop Estimator is the primary point of contact with customers requiring estimates for vehicle repairs. The incumbent examines the extent of damages on vehicles and provides estimates that comply with insurance company guidelines while ensuring superior customer service is always provided.Job Duties

  • Estimate parts and labour requirements to repair damages to vehicles that are brought into the shop using Qapter and Mitchell Connect
  • Where applicable, use approved insurance guidelines for automotive labour rates and parts.
  • Ensure the estimate achieves profit margins designated by management.
  • Work with techs/repair planners to determine the extent of structural, body, mechanical, electrical or interior damage.
  • Take pictures according to insurance guidelines of all damage to the vehicle
  • Review repair-cost estimates with Body Shop Manager to ensure proper and accurate estimate was determined. The estimate is used to create repair workorders for the technicians.
  • Prepare estimate documentation for customers; maintain accurate documentation and obtain customer signatures as required
  • Plan and coordinate parts requirements with repair planners for Body Shop jobs
  • Speak directly with customers to go over repair estimates and answer any questions
  • Track all estimates provided to customers
  • Ensure superior customer service is given to every customer, or potential customer, at all times
  • Obtain customer agreement, signatures and pre-inspection checklists and pictures.
  • Order parts from appropriate vendors and verify their arrival
  • Review all final invoices and supplemental billings for accuracy
  • Review the final repairs prior to delivery to the customer
  • Any other duties as required
Requirements
  • Experience in the motor vehicle body repair trade is preferred with estimating experience
  • Possess a valid drivers license
  • Ability to work independently in a busy environment
  • Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Able to work well under pressure
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times
  • Technology savvy
Work Conditions
  • Able to multi-task between a number of Computer and web-based software.
  • Manual dexterity required to operate and use necessary tools and equipment
  • Interaction with employees, management and the public at largeAut
  • Indoor and outdoor conditions
  • Safety equipment will be required, e.g. steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses/goggles, etc.
  • Hazards associated with the trade
  • Attend and participate in all training requirements.
