Job Description

POSITION SUMMARYThe incumbent will provide a range of employment services to support job seekers in pursuing training and/or finding & keepingemployment.ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage a large caseload and support participants as they progress through individualized employment/training plans.
  • Identify barriers to employment and assist participants in resolving those barriers including but not limited to accessing training
and certifications, gaining experience through job trials/placements, accessing financial supports, reviewing specializedassessments, implementing accommodation plans and/or performing life-stabilization interventions.
  • Conduct comprehensive client intakes and determine need (if applicable) for referrals to appropriate internal or external services.
  • Share relevant labour market information and assist participants in developing realistic career goals in a one-on-one setting.
  • Review job posting information with participants and conduct reviews of skills and experience required to fulfill vacancies.
  • Assist clients in accessing government funded programs and provide input to funders as needed.
  • Maintain accurate notes and case documentation in both virtual and physical files.
  • Conduct follow-ups with clients at regular intervals to assess employment plan progression, record outcomes both manually and
in internal/external databases and prepare reports as necessary.
  • If applicable, provide coverage of the Resource & Information Centre and participate in the delivery employment related
resources, workshops, and presentations.
  • Liaise with community agencies, government officials, members of the public and other staff to provide information or guidance
on employment related services and/or relevant social service programs.
  • Perform and/or assist in job development duties including the coordination and monitoring of job placements with employers.
  • Coach participants as they prepare for job interviews and/or attend career fairs or other employment related events.
  • Provide employment retention service and provide relevant intervention supports to participants as required by various programs.
  • Market and promote agency through participation in job fairs, community board involvement and professional and/or business
associations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Completion of a post-secondary education in social services, developmental services, or related.
  • Minimum of 2 years related experience handling a caseload and supporting, mentoring, or counselling individuals.
  • Advanced computer skills with proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Strong attention to detail and follow up to ensure seamless continuum of employment services.
  • Strong analytical skills demonstrating a proactive approach to problem solving.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Understanding of federal, provincial and municipal programs and services, eligibility and guidelines.
  • Familiar with community social services networks and knowledge of Ontario welfare system and supports; sound understanding
of employment-related legislation and issues.
  • Ability to multitask and work well in stressful, sometimes crisis, situations.
  • Must be able to travel frequently to various locations for work.
  • Access to reliable transportation for travel outside the office.
ADDITIONAL NOTES
  • Travel outside the office may be necessary.
  • May require non-standard working hours (evenings & weekends).
  • Must have the ability to work from home as needed.
