Click Here to learn about FastStart.Reporting to the Dean of Research Services, Innovation & Entrepreneurship and working closely with the FastStart faculty lead, this position is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the FastStart Entrepreneurship Centre in a fast-paced and challenging environment. The Entrepreneurship Coordinator provides services to student entrepreneurs to support their business ideation, branding, start-up, and scale-up, and supports a work study student team that provides FastStart services, including the Creative Suite & Studio, and the FastTECH Makerspace. The position is the staff advisor for the EnactusDC team and is responsible for advising the team’s project work, in partnership with the EnactusDC faculty team. Additionally, the position provides promotion, event planning, and communications support.Key duties include the following:MENTORSHIP

  • Meeting with students who have advanced through the online intake program to provide guidance, mentorship and coaching.
  • Providing marketing and branding support to students.
  • Monitoring student progress against established milestones.
  • Connecting student entrepreneurs with appropriate mentors.
  • Providing guidance and support to the work study team on a daily basis to implement effective services and practices.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT / MARKETING
  • Organizing events and services to support students’ entrepreneurial needs.
  • Providing classroom visits to faculty upon request to promote FastStart services.
  • Promotional activities such as website content management, social media campaign, e-newsletter, recruitment initiatives, annual report content, and the coordination of these activities with partners.
  • Planning student pitch competitions, including provincial college-sector competitions.
ADMINISTRATIVE
  • Ensuring effective daily operations of the Centre, such as coverage, scheduling staff, scheduling events and activities.
  • Maintaining student records and quarterly statistical reports on activity levels using Records and Information Management (RIM) strategies and tools.
  • Maintaining appropriate service standards.
  • Collaborating with college departments and community partners to provide networking opportunities and information.
  • Consulting with the Dean on direction, challenges, and complex matters.
  • Managing and resolving challenges as arise in a timely, professional and expedient manner.
  • Responding to health and safety related concerns in a timely fashion.
QUALIFICATIONSThe successful candidate will possess a diploma or degree in Business, Entrepreneurship or Marketing and will have a minimum of three (3) years’ experience working directly in the start-up industry, with entrepreneurs, or in an administrative or creative capacity with a business start-up, or as a founding member of a start-up. Alternatively, three (3) years of experience working in the areas of entrepreneurship and commercialization; knowledge of start-up company environment, as well as the creation and growth of start-up companies. The successful incumbent will have experience developing marketing/communications plans. Experience working in post-secondary environments is an asset.Required skills include strong project management skills with experience in managing multiple projects and maintaining accountability; planning, coordination and organizational skills; and ability to prepare materials for various audiences. The incumbent must have strong critical thinking, judgment, interpersonal, time management skills; demonstrated strong business acumen and excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills; effective communication skills to collaborate with faculty and administrative staff at all levels of the college, identifying needs and providing ongoing support; ability to be proactive in taking initiative, and identifying and resolving issues. The incumbent must possess the ability to work independently and as a team member, and maintain appropriate service standards.The incumbent will have a proven track record of professionalism, service orientation, and respectful interactions with internal and external stakeholders, the ability to build and maintain solid working relationships, as well as skills, ability, and experience in conflict resolution.Required SkillsHourly rate: $29.29Required ExperiencePart-time support opportunity (classification): Temporary, August 2022 to December 2022Hours: 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, three days per weekPlease apply below by submitting your cover letter and resume to the online portal.
