The Faculty of Business requires a part-time professor to teach SCMT 4200 – SCM Execution & ControlDirecting and controlling the activities involved in producing goods and services, while optimizing the management of strategic inventory assets, has become a critical objective for businesses in the 21st century. Companies intent on competing in a global marketplace must deliver with excellent efficiency and effectiveness in order to support long term profitable growth. Firms strive to manage the increased complexities of shortened product life cycles, rapidly changing technology, and globalization while addressing customers demands for greater product selection. The systematic approach to planning and executing business strategy offered by an engineered Manufacturing Planning and Control (MPC) System affords such businesses the opportunity to deliver to the global marketplace in profitable ways. The MPC System has proven itself to be a key enabler of achieving competitive advantage through quality, precision, speed, agility in production and elimination of waste. This course will explore the MPC System following the trajectory that was established in the SCMT 3201 course. We will begin with a discussion of planning and managing capacity in production operations, and will move forward to develop an understanding of how world-class businesses control production activities. Just-in-Time (JIT) concepts will be defined, and their application in manufacturing planning and control will be examined. Distribution Requirements Planning (DRP) will be explored. The course will then proceed to review the Management of Supply Chain Logistics, and examine how best-in-class organizations manage inventory. In particular, the functions of inventory, inventory control and inventory management methods, and the various costs associated with inventory will be explored.IMPORTANT NOTE FOR PART-TIME FACULTY APPLICANTSPart-time recruitment is ongoing and is dependent on when courses are being taught and the need for faculty to teach.Part-time faculty teach up to 6 hours per week with varied schedules Monday through Thursday between 8:00 am and 9:00 pm, Fridays between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm, and Saturdays and Sundays between 9:00 am and 5:00pm.For more information about the different courses available, please look at the link to our Faculty: https://durhamcollege.ca/academic-faculties/faculty-of-businessThe responsibilities of Durham College Part-time Professors include, but are not limited to:

• Creating a positive learning environment that accommodates students’ diverse cultural and educational backgrounds, experiences, and individual learning styles;

• Utilizing principles of adult education to actively engage students in the learning process;

• Effectively using educational technologies to support learning, manage and post grades, and deliver hybrid and on-line courses;

• Developing curriculum that uses appropriate strategies and tools to assess student learning;

• Ensuring that course and program curriculum is current and relevant;

• Working independently and demonstrating initiative; and

• Working effectively with students, the program team, and a variety of internal and external stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will meet or exceed the following qualifications:

• A relevant master’s degree combined with industry credentials.

• A minimum of five years of recent (within the past three years) and relevant work experience.

• Teaching experience at the post-secondary level with a demonstrated understanding and application of Universal Design for Learning and current assessment methodologies.

• Experience participating in industry-led or community-based applied research is an asset.

• Demonstrated use of current technologies to support student learning and the management of grades.

• Proven track-record of life-long learning.

• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders including students, faculty, support staff, administrators and community stakeholders.

• Understanding of the Ontario college system.
