Led by over 1,860 full- and part-time staff, DC has an estimated annual economic impact of more than $913 million on Durham Region.The Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL) is seeking to contract a program and curriculum consultant for the development of various non-degree, MCU credentialed programs. Reporting to the Associate Dean, Teaching, Learning and Program Quality, the incumbent will support the development and approval of new non-degree programs, ensuring the curriculum and all aspects of the submissions meet internal and external requirements. Working closely with subject-matter experts, program development teams and members of the Durham College Quality Assurance team, the incumbent will support the development of full proposal submissions meeting all required standards and benchmarks, guide curriculum development and facilitate all aspects of the approval process.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead subject matter experts, faculty, administrators and internal/external stakeholders in the development of new program submissions across disciplines and academic areas.
  • Work with the Quality Assurance team to lead program and curriculum development and, where necessary, related quality assurance processes.
  • Manage the development and revision of curriculum for new non-degree programs and program review and renewal processes. This work includes facilitating the development and revision of program descriptions, program learning outcomes and program of study and pathways.
  • Support the development and renewal of course outlines, including advising stakeholders on the constructive alignment of program and course learning outcomes, learning objectives, and assessments and quality standards.
  • Advise stakeholders on compliance with institutional and Ministry guidelines and priorities, and adherence to applicable college policies, procedures and practices.
  • Support the development and implementation of non-degree curriculum mapping requirements and processes.
  • Facilitate creation and revision of new non-degree program submissions, ensuring quality expectations and timelines are met.
  • Facilitate all new non-degree program approval processes.
  • Lead various stakeholders in the successful application of evidenced-based principles of teaching and learning, and Universal Design for Learning in the design, development, evaluation, and revision of courses and programs, assign tasks to various stakeholders, and follow-up with Deans and/or Associate Deans, as necessary.
  • Manage timelines and competing priorities to ensure outcomes are met.
  • Ensure compliance with storage according to records retention management (RIM) policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master’s degree in Education, Curriculum Development or related field required.
  • Minimum of 3 years recent experience in program and/or curriculum development.
  • Minimum of 3 years recent teaching experience at the post-secondary level.
  • Knowledge of best practices in curriculum and program development.
  • Understanding of adult learning principles and andragogy, Universal Design for Learning, and Bloom’s Taxonomy.
  • Knowledge of best practices in curriculum and program development.
  • Experience working with the requirements associated with program development and modification, including the Credentials Validation Service.
  • Familiarity in working with the MCU and OCQAS considered an asset.
  • Exceptional skills in communication, critical thinking, attention to detail and research.
  • Ability to take direction, work effectively with a team, and work proactively and independently.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and consultation skills with a high level of adaptability in dealing effectively and positively with diverse team members.
  • Ability to produce high quality, detailed written documentation.
  • Experience using organizational skills to take a project from an initial idea through delivery while working under pressure and with minimal supervision.
  • Experience in facilitating workshops and providing leadership in an academic environment is considered an asset.
  • Project management in a corporate or academic environment considered an asset.
