  • plan, lead and conduct investigations, and search and seizure actions involving non-compliance relating to any of the acts administered by the Ministry of Education (e.g. Education Act, Child Care and Early Years Act)
  • conduct thorough investigations by obtaining evidence; ensuring proper collection, custody, control and identification; locating and interviewing informants, third-party witnesses, suspected violators and/or other representatives
  • conduct investigations to determine compliance with applicable acts including surveillance, analyzing records, and determining whether further investigation or prosecution is warranted
  • participate in the prosecution of violators by serving summons or subpoenas, ensuring sufficient evidence has been gathered, and appearing as a Crown witness
  • conduct ongoing research of recent and relevant case law, investigative technology, and techniques to preserve and analyze electronic evidence
Note: In this position, you will work primarily in the field at investigation sites and will be frequently required to work outside of standard business hours.How do I qualifyMandatory:
  • The position requires the successful candidate to have a valid class G drivers licence or equivalent. The offer of employment is conditional upon the successful candidate providing proof that they have a valid drivers licence upon being hired.
  • You must possess oral and written French language skills at the advanced level. Your proficiency level will be confirmed before hire.
Investigative Knowledge
  • You understand legal methods, techniques and procedures.
  • You have in-depth knowledge of investigative techniques, judicial process, rules of evidence and court procedures as well as related legislation (e.g. Provincial Offences Act, Ontario and Canada Evidence Act, Charter of Rights, Criminal Code of Canada).
  • You understand the management, evaluation and analysis of intelligence data and the processes required to ensure the completeness and integrity of data.
Analytical and Planning Skills
  • You have analytical skills to assess the nature of alleged contraventions in relation to legislation, regulations and/or statutes and whether a violation occurred.
  • You have effective planning skills to develop a course of action for an investigation and establish how evidence will be collected.
Communication and Interpersonal Skills
  • You can use communication skills effectively to interview complainants, informants, witnesses, and suspects to obtain evidence, where interviewees may be unwilling or evasive.
  • You can work cooperatively with other investigators, corporate representatives, legal counsel and/or police to share and discuss information.
  • You have written communication skills to prepare draft documents and reports.
Conflict Management and Influencing SkillsYou have conflict management skills to identify potential conflicts and to help de-escalate and address the conflict.You have influencing skills persuading others to adopt a specific course of action that corresponds with policy and direction to ensure regulatory compliance and public safety.Additional Information:Address:
