The teamThe Awards and Rankings Senior Advisor reports to the Directories, Awards and Matters Manager and is part of the Canadian Clients and Markets team. This role works closely with Clients and Markets teams including Marketing and Business Development, Clients and Industries, Corporate Communications, Digital and Design as well as lawyers and the offshore Global Service Centre (GSC).The roleThe primary responsibility of this role is to lead, project manage and draft all legal professional award nominations to help grow the profile and market position of the firm and our lawyers. Central to the role, this individual will manage our relationship with Lexpert, a leading legal directory and news source in Canada. Internally, this role will project manage the annual peer review process for the Lexpert directory and communication plan drafting and execution.This role will also support the submission process for other legal industry directory efforts, including Chambers and Partners and Legal 500.ResponsibilitiesAwards and directories PlanningCreate and proactively manage a comprehensive editorial calendar of all firm and individual awards run by regional, legal and trade publications.Research, identify and communicate new opportunities within the industry and regional markets.Provide insightful and strategic recommendations regarding the firm #39;s participation in surveys and awards.Drafting and submissionsDevelop compelling nominations for award opportunities for the overall firm, practice groups and individual lawyers while improving visibility for key focus areas.Support the submission process for other legal industry directory efforts. Support will include drafting, reviewing and finalizing directory submissions.Lead the Canadian General Counsel Awards process (national and regional awards) and assist team members with regional awards as needed.Stakeholder managementAct as first point of contact to advise and answer daily questions regarding participation.Prepare lawyers for interviews with awards and surveys researchers.Collaborate with lawyers, clients and other members of the clients services team to draft nominations; improve the timeliness of awards submissions; share best practices and templates; provide guidance and ensure deadlines are met.Work directly with management and colleagues to advise and shortlist and select individuals and initiatives for nominations.Coordinate attendance at award dinners and galas.Communication and promotionPrepare communications plans to promote the firm #39;s awards wins and rankings on a variety of internal and external channels.Prepare first drafts of communications, and work with the editorial and communications teams to refine messaging.AnalysisCollate and analyze awards performance through key performance indicators and provide recommendations.LexpertDevelop and lead the firm #39;s relationship owner with Lexpert.Project lead on the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory, pre-vetting process, survey voting, rankings release and bio updates.Coordinate with support from the communications team, updates to the Lexpert Special Editions ensuring all applicable lawyers are credited and create internal/external promotion.Lead the Lexpert/ALM 500 Directory process ensuring ranking information is up to date, internal/external communications are deployed and lawyer bios are updated.Lead the submission process for the Lexpert Rising Stars award.Liaise with the editorial team on communications plans and execution.Skills and qualificationsBachelor #39;s degree or diploma in communications, public relations, marketing or relevant field. Minimum of 5 - 7 years of working experience in business development or marketing fields. Familiarity with the legal industry and associated publications and awards is an asset Adept at effectively summarizing data into more user-friendly analyses. Strong project management skills and the ability to multi-task. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Can work collaboratively both within the department and across departments. Strong research skills required to provide insight into growth opportunities for the firm #39;s exposure. Able to contribute to the department #39;s analytical and reporting efforts. Strong problem-solving skills and able to evaluate the relative strengths and weaknesses of different options. Uses a logical method for organizing and analyzing information.
