Job DescriptionAECOM Canada is searching for a Geotechnical Technician for a full-time position based out of Ottawa.• Performs a variety of tasks in support of engineering office and field staff. • Complete testing and assessment of various construction materials including soil, rock, concrete, grout, asphalt, geotextiles.• Attend projects experiencing problematic ground conditions, perform measurements and record observations. Liaison with project engineering staff to determine cost effective, realistic solutions.• Complete granular and soils material sampling,.• Coordinate with utility locators, sub-contractor representatives and other on-site personnel• Assist with mobilization and demobilization of project related equipment.• Filing project-related notes/drawings according to project requirements• Assist with preparation of field instructions Health and Safety plans.• Assist with general data entry, analysis and preparing documents.• Collection of environmental samples (soil and water) for chemical assessment in support of construction activities• Assist with other environmental field scopes of work as required.• Communicate with Senior Engineering Staff as to any field observations or equipment needs during project work.• Other duties as required.
