Reporting to the General Counsel, the Privacy Officer is responsible for leading Assent’s privacy operations and supporting compliance with privacy laws and regulations in various jurisdictions. Additionally, the Privacy Officer is responsible for assisting in the implementation of the corporate security and privacy strategy, including for example, developing and maintaining privacy related policies and processes, driving the execution of privacy initiatives, and being an advocate for Assent Privacy

  • Under the direction of General Counsel, advise on privacy related issues and questions as they arise throughout the organization and provide practical, business oriented and strategic guidance on the application of privacy related rules and regulations
  • Develop and manage Assent’s privacy governance framework, including creating and updating policies, agreements and guidance for the business
  • In collaboration with Security, develop processes to mitigate privacy risk
  • Develop and implement privacy training for the organization to enhance its understanding of privacy related rules, regulations and guidance, the organization’s data protection obligations, applicable policies and data handling practices and processes
  • Support the organization in responding to internal/external security questionnaires, RFPs/RFIs and audits with privacy implications
  • Evaluate changes to the corporate environment for privacy impact and present findings and recommendations to the Data Protection Officer
  • Report any privacy related issues or incidents and client matters with privacy implications to the Data Protection Officer
Qualifications
  • Experience in a privacy or compliance function, with experience in incident response, privacy impact assessments, developing and maintaining privacy policies and processes, etc.
  • Knowledge of U.S., Canada, or EU privacy laws
  • Understanding of technical security and privacy controls with exposure to and knowledge of SOC 2, ISO 27K and other standards
