Job Description

Subsidiary: Miller Paving LimitedLocation: Owen Sound, ONSummaryThe Miller Group is looking for a Grade Person for E.C King Construction in the Owen Sound area. This position will be responsible for conducting layout and stake out of self-performing works & monitoring and tracking progression of work up to and including collecting as-built information.Main Responsibilities

  • Assist with the setup and operation of levels, total stations or GPS instruments for layout & stakeout of various project or quarry work sites
  • Provide support to those for Survey and preparation of as-built drawings including roads, parking lots, driveways & excavations.
  • Assist with the creation of grade sheets and as-built construction reports
  • Collect, organize and record geographic information
  • Help prepare drawings, charts, plans, records, and documents
  • Competently calculate layout from digital design files or PDF drawings
  • Assist with performing construction layouts as required, in coordination with grading and paving crews
  • Assist with performing quantity surveys as required
  • Provide support in to set & maintain site benchmarks as required
Requirements
  • Working towards undergraduate degree
  • Candidates must possess a strong work ethic
  • Effective communication (written and verbal)
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, with a high level of dependability
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently
  • Ability to prioritize and pay attention to fine details
  • Computer knowledge
  • Valid drivers’ license, to support travel requirements
  • Willingness to work extended hours and weekends, as required
