POSTING #: 2024-02POSITIONS:Summer Camp Coordinator (1 position) EMPLOYEE GROUP: Contract (Approximately 14-16 weeks), 35 hours/week# OF POSITIONS: 1 positionsLOCATION: Owen Soundamp; WalkertonSALARY: $19.00 per hourDATE POSTED:February 8th, 2024POSTING TYPE: External Please submit your application quoting posting number above to Human Resources at hr@bgcfs.ca. Should Public Health requirements change in the future all employees would be required to provide proof of vaccination.PURPOSE STATEMENTThe various summer student opportunities at BGCFS work to provide in-office support to the Administrative team, the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Supervisor, the Quality team and the Summer Camp program.The work of BGCFS is considered essential.The organization has policies, procedures, and practices in place to ensure a response to urgent child protection matters at all times. MAIN DUTIESamp; RESPONSIBILITIES:Summer Camp Coordinator

  • Compile a comprehensive list of available summer camps for distribution to workers.
  • Serve as a liaison between Camp Directors and Bruce Grey Child and Family Services.
  • Negotiate discounts or price accommodations with summer camps based on the number of children attending and inform them of Duty to Report presentations.
  • Ensure timely completion of camp registration forms with appropriate signatures and permissions and manage camp requests in accordance with BGCFS’s principles.
  • Communicate camp dates to families and foster families, organize and track camp spots and spending, and remind parents and foster parents of camp dates one week in advance.
  • Ensure all registration forms and funds are complete before children go to camp, visit high-attendance camps as assigned, and collaborate with supervisors on camp attendance and program progress discussions.

  • Develops and maintains collaborative relationships at all levels of the organization to build trust and confidence in the services provided.
  • Establishes positive relationships with key stakeholders, internal and external to the BGCFS such as other agency staff, community contacts, foster parents, volunteers, Ministry contacts, police, clients, and families.
  • Share’s information according to privacy and/or confidentiality guidelines Ensures appropriate communication with manager at appropriate time. Respects ethnic, spiritual, linguistic, familial, and cultural differences.

  • Develops professional working relationships with all staff. Works respectfully, positively, and collaboratively within a team environment sharing experiences and lessons learned.
  • Supports the team and works with team members to ensure agency needs are met including daily administrative and reception coverage requirements.
Other Related Activities
  • Provides basic technical support for basic usage of computers, software, and devices such as printers and completes user-level maintenance of office equipment.
  • Knows and adheres to all applicable BGCFS policies, procedures, and relevant administrative practices.
  • Strives to meet or exceed all accountabilities and achieve continuous quality improvement and excellence in all activities and outcomes.
  • Works in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act of Ontario and the regulations.
KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLSamp; ATTRIBUTES:Qualifications:
  • Grade 12 required.
  • Working towards a diploma or degree with preference to administrative studies, or social work program with a focus in equity, inclusion and diversity Driver’s License and reliable transportation preferred

EFFORTSamp; WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Work is primarily performed at a desk in a normal office environment with regular meetings with children, families, and other professionals.
  • Intermediate periods of sitting and computer/phone use.
  • The incumbent has the freedom to move about or change position at will, except in crisis situation Multi-tasks within a fast-paced, high-volume, and demanding environment.
  • Absorbs and interprets information from multiple parties on a regular basis.
  • Required to listen to and reconcile multiple points of view being discussed/presented.
  • Frequent interruptions often dealing with critical issues.
  • Occasional travel to the two BGCFS office sites.
  • Occasional travel within Bruce and Grey Counties.
  • May be exposed to potentially hazardous environments including driving conditions, volatile situations, and visits to client’s homes.
  • Occasional lifting of children or heavy objects may be required.
