In addition, to provide training as required and assist in maintaining compliance with all legal and other requirements as they relate to Environmental, and Health and Safety legislation and standards. Interact with regulatory bodies as required.Duties and Responsibilities

• ISO 14001 Environmental Management System

• Maintenance of the company’s environmental management system

• Joint Health and Safety Committee/Environmental Committee

• Management representative on TG Minto’s Joint H & S Committee and Environmental Committee
  • Training

• Develop, implement and facilitate where necessary training programs, and or training videos, in support of TG Minto’s Health and Safety program.
  • Health and Safety

• Daily plant safety audits and activities designed to monitor the effectiveness of the company’s EHS programs
• Assist in the health and safety evaluation of new machinery and make recommendations to Management to make new equipment safer.
• Assist in health and safety training for such areas as orientation, WHMIS, Lift Truck, Tugger, Cranes, Respirator training, Fire Prevention, Safe Solvent Handling, Isocyanates, etc.
• Maintenance of the Hazard Communications System, WHMIS (SDS’s), Hazard Alerts preparation
• Corrective action follow-ups
• Develop and deliver SOS safety talks
• Field health and safety concerns where necessary

WSIB Responsibilities

• Assist in developing, return to work programs of injured FTM’s.
• Certified first aid provider, maintain TG Minto’s first aid program

• Reporting accidents, accident trends, and countermeasures to TG Minto Management, JHSC and team members on a daily, and monthly basis

• OHSAS 18001 Health and Safety Management System

• Implementation and maintenance of the system according to regulations

• High school diploma or general education degree; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Preference will be given to individuals with experience dealing with health and safety issues, however, additional training will be provided where necessary.

Language Skills

• The incumbent needs to demonstrate the ability to communicate ideas and information clearly to team members from all levels of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
• Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Other Skills and Abilities

• The individual needs to have strong organizational skills and needs to demonstrate the ability to multi-task under potentially stressful conditions.
• Working knowledge of such computer programs as Microsoft Excel, Word and Access.
