  • Work Schedule: 2 weeks on, 1 week off

Job Summary: GrizzlyTrek invites budding Apprentice Iron Workers to be a part of our dynamic team for a 12-month project. This role requires a dedicated individual eager to learn and hone their skills in managing steel and iron structural components. The right candidate will be enthusiastic about gaining expertise in connecting iron and steel structures, welding, and interpreting structural blueprints. We prioritize a mix of technical understanding, emphasis on safety, and physical ability in this role.Essential Skills and Qualifications:
  • Technical Exposure: While certification as an Iron Worker is advantageous, we value a strong desire to learn and apply knowledge. Familiarity with tools, equipment, and basic safety standards in the iron-working sector is beneficial. Eagerness to understand and interpret structural blueprints is essential.
  • Structural Skills: Some hands-on experience or a keen interest in erecting, connecting, and welding iron and steel structures.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to handle heavy components and equipment, willingness to work at heights, and endure standing, bending, and lifting.
  • Safety Orientation: An understanding of the importance of safety guidelines and an interest in becoming proficient in the use of safety equipment.
  • Communication Skills: Good written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with team members and superiors.
  • Educational Credentials: A minimum of Grade 12 education or equivalent is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the erection, connection, and welding of iron and steel structures under supervision.
  • Learn and gradually interpret structural blueprints and design plans.
  • Use and maintain heavy machinery and tools specific to ironworking.
  • Participate in inspections to ensure the stability of installed iron and steel components.
  • Follow and respect all safety guidelines to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Work closely with the team to achieve project milestones.
  • Take on additional tasks as directed by superiors to broaden skill set.
Operational Conditions:
  • The apprentice may find themselves working under varying weather conditions, at heights, and occasionally in confined areas.
  • The role is physically demanding and will involve tasks such as lifting and operating machinery.
  • Safety gear usage is mandatory during working hours.
