As part of our strategy to provide on-going support for our schools, the Board is now accepting resumes from qualified applicants for the full time position of Administrative Assistant.All positions in the Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board support the schools priority of student achievement and the Boards mission to educate our students to excel in learning, to succeed in life and to enrich our communities.Employees demonstrate empathy and respect in all interactions, are committed to service excellence, and embrace change through innovation.The purpose of the Administrative Assistant is to provide confidential and effective management support services to the Superintendent of Education by assisting in day to day communication, coordinating various departmental responsibilities and supporting system-level responsibilities within senior leadership.This position requires the highest degree of confidentiality and discretion as the duties involve working directly with various stakeholders and information, both internal and external to the Board, regarding highly sensitive and personal matters.Reports to: Superintendent of EducationMain Responsibilities:Develop and maintain operating documents within the Superintendent’s portfolio, including, bulletins and general communications.Support the Superintendent and their team by coordinating meetings and prepare confidential minutes.Provide confidential support to a wide variety of administrative activities that are under the direction of the Superintendent.Respond to verbal, written and electronic enquiries from schools, Education Centre, parents, students, and the general public.Liaise with Senior Administration, Managers, Principals, Vice-principals, coworkers, parents and students.Communicate on behalf of the Superintendent as required.Other duties as may arise at the direction of the Superintendent.Supervision:Does not supervise.Education & Experience Required:Secondary school diploma plus two years related post-secondary training (e.g. college-level clerical and/or business administration education); andOne to three years of related experienceSpecialized skills Required:Knowledge of common computer software applications (i.e. word processing, spreadsheet and database applications).A commitment to service excellence;Excellent organization and interpersonal skills as well as ability to function as part of a team;Excellent oral and written communication skills.Working Conditions:Office building working environment;Moderate amounts of concentration, attention to details, visual exertion, keyboarding and dealing with difficult people;Moderate pressure to meet deadlines, and interruptions.Some work outside of regular business hours.Apolice records check, with a Vulnerable Sector Search and Pardoned SexualOffenders Database Search , dated within 6 months prior tothe date of hire , is a requirement for employment with this Board.Please note that there have been reports that it has taken some candidates upto 6 weeks to obtain a police check.
