  • work with a team of professionals on Crown (public) land policies, including legislation (Public Lands Act), regulations and various directives
  • support policy development by undertaking research and analysis, including looking at other jurisdictional scans
  • identify and assess trends and issues relating to applicable policy and legislation
  • support the development and implementation of programs, plans, policies, reports and presentations
  • support the drafting of policy proposals , research papers and briefing documents for senior management
  • support liaison with other branches/ministries/stakeholders to discuss research and obtain input/feedback on policy and program initiatives
  • participate in the planning and delivery of provincial consultation exercises
How do I qualifyAnalytical and Problem-Solving Skills
  • You can research and analyze issues, and assist in the development of recommended courses of action.
  • You are able to organize and express research and analysis in a manner that facilitates problem-solving and effective decision-making.
Communication and Interpersonal Skills
  • You have oral and written communication skills to respond to information requests, prepare and present analyses, policy proposals and options to staff, team members and management.
  • You possess effective collaboration and consultation skills to support liaison with stakeholders.
Policy Development Knowledge
  • You have an understanding, or the ability to acquire knowledge of policy development principles, methods and techniques to participate in policy development.
  • You have an understanding, or the ability to acquire knowledge of program analysis/evaluation techniques to evaluate and assess policies and programs and report on the effectiveness of policy, and contribute to recommendations for policy change.
Industry Knowledge
  • You have knowledge of natural resource management and Crown (public) land management principles, practices and planning approaches.
  • You have knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply legislation, policies, strategies, and agreements.
  • You have knowledge of data and information analysis and interpretation techniques.
Project Management Skills
  • You have project management skills and can independently plan and conduct policy analysis and research projects.
  • You have strong organizational skills to coordinate research tasks, establish priorities, resolve issues and meet deadlines.
