Job Description

Pay Band 8 - $23.45/hrThe Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board is currently accepting applications from Educational Assistant - Sign for casual/supply work to begin immediately.The purpose of the Educational Assistant - Sign position is to provide instructional support in academic, social, physical, emotional and behavioural programs for students in a variety of learning situations. As well the Educational Assistant - Sign carries out personal care duties to meet the physical needs of students. As part of the student support team, the Educational Assistant - Sign promotes and maintains a safe, caring and restorative school environment. The Educational Assistant - Sign work is focused on supporting students who are deaf or hard-of-hearing.Casual work can lead to long-term placements and eventual permanent positions. We are a large Board with an emphasis on special education. Therefore, we seek candidates who are available and wanting to work regularly. You must be available to work for a minimum of 3 days per week.Work will be available in four geographical regions. Due to the large size of our Board, successful candidates are not expected to work in all geographical areas. Please note in your application the geographic area(s) in which you are applying to work.

  • Western - Bowmanville/Courtice area
  • Southern - Port Hope/Cobourg area
  • Eastern - Brighton/Campbellford area
  • Northern - Peterborough area
Education and experience for EA Sign positions:
  • 2 year college diploma in Educational Assistant Program or equivalent
  • six (6) months to one (1) year of related experience
  • Level 2 Signing (completed to a minimum of course 203)
  • Current Non Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) Certification (Full Program)
