Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION *Reporting to the Live-In Treatment Supervisor, Residential and Day Treatment, the Live-In Treatment Child and Youth Worker (CYW) works as part of an interdisciplinary team delivering direct services to clients with mental health needs. The Live-In Treatment, CYW is responsible for providing a safe and therapeutic environment in which individual client goals are actualized. All Kinark employees share the responsibility of workplace health and safety and the prevention of workplace hazards. Every employee must protect their own health and safety by working in compliance with the law and with safe work practices and procedures.In addition, it is important that the Live-In Treatment CYW develops and maintains therapeutic relationships with clients, families and guardians and is adept at modeling positive social and problem solving skills, and skilled at behaviour management. This position is covered by the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), Local 2860. The position will be scheduled to meet program needs as per the Collective Agreement.Qualifications:

  • Child and Youth Worker diploma or equivalent post-secondary education.
  • Must be available to work days, afternoons and overnight shifts.
  • Positions are guaranteed a minimum of 8 hours per week but could be scheduled up to 40 hours to meet program needs.
  • Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal and administrative skills
  • Current valid Standard First Aid/CPR Level C certificate
  • Training in Understanding and Managing Aggressive Behaviour
  • Understanding group dynamics and strong skills in group and individual counseling
  • Candidates must also possess good report writing skills
  • Must have a valid Ontario driver’s license
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check (including a Vulnerable Sector Screening) and Pre-Employment Medical
Kinark Child and Family Services conditions of employment include but are not limited to successful Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening, completed Pre-Employment Medical certificate, and proof of full vaccination against COVID-19. Fully vaccinated is defined as having received all required doses of a World Health Organization Approved COVID-19 Vaccine at least one of which being approved for use in Canada and 14 days have passed since your last dose.
