Job Description

Fleming offers more than 100 full-time programs in Environmental and Natural Resource Sciences, Fine Arts, General Arts and Science, Technology, Skilled Trades, Community Development, Health, Business, and Justice as well as other Continuing Education courses.We are also extremely proud of our more than 73,000 Fleming alumni who are contributing to their communities in the region, across the province and around the world.What Are We AboutPlease note this is a temporary part-time position (15 hours a week) from August 2022 - April 2023.As a member of the Health, Wellness and Accessible Education Services team the Counsellor will work collaboratively with students to help them develop insights, identify strengths, and enhance their personal resilience. Reporting to the Director, Health, Wellness and Accessibility Services the Counsellor will have multi-campus responsibilities in providing clinical and therapeutic support both in person and via WebEx with a focus on supporting students using a brief, goal-directed, stepped care model. Clinical duties include collaborating with students to determine their individual goals, challenges and areas requiring support to maximize their personal and academic success at Fleming.Counsellors should embrace working as part of a multi-disciplinary team and appreciate the values of collaboration, communication, and the opportunity to work closely with students. Check out Life@Fleming.What We Are Looking For:As our ideal candidate, you possess a relevant combination of formal education and professional experience including:

  • Masters Degree in Psychology, Counselling Psychology, Social Work or other closely related discipline
  • 3-5 years directly related work experience in a post-secondary, counselling service or community based mental health agency
  • Be a member in good standing with respective regulatory body (Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO), College of Psychologists of Ontario)
  • Strong generalist counselling skills and ability to work with a diverse client population in a brief, goal-directed, stepped care therapy practice model
  • Experience with diverse modes of counselling practice such as virtual service delivery, walk-in counselling, and single session support
  • Complete timely documentation according to Counselling Services and regulatory policies
  • Experience in case management in a multi-disciplinary team is an asset.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills with a high degree of initiative and the ability to function independently and interdependently as part of a high performing team
  • A Police Vulnerable Sector Screen of the successful candidate will be required.
