As a support to the consultative staff working under the supervision of the Principal Assistant to the Superintendent – program and the Superintendent of Teaching and Learning, the successful applicant will facilitate the use of data to focus improvement efforts on enhancing student achievement.MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:Collect and prepare data on assigned projects such as school climate surveys, student demographic data (census), and the social risk index. Analyze data on projects such as the early development instrument and the Board EQAU results.Work as part of the Teaching and Learning team to support school staff with local and provincial accountability requirements;Build staff knowledge and capacity regarding the effective use of data to inform instructional practices;Support schools with improvement planning processes;Support educators with the professional learning required to understand and use provincial assessment data, including EQAO and the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT);Provide leadership for assigned projects including developing proposals, organization, communication, managing budgets and report writing;Provide and facilitate professional learning opportunities using a variety of delivery methods that may encompass time frames outside the normal school day;Serve as chair of the KPR system Research Advisory Committee;Represent the Board on provincial and regional committees, initiatives and projects;Provide overall project management for MISA (Managing Information for Student Achievement) initiatives, track progress and provide required reports to the Ministry;Act as a resource to senior staff on research, data and statistical analysis methodologies;Support principals of equity and inclusionary practice in providing programming for all learners’;Plan and support the development of individual team members to effectively achieve goals;Provide team members with timely, appropriate feedback on performance;Plan, evaluate, and improve the efficiency of business processes and procedures, in consultation with the Associate Director, to embed service excellence in all operational activities;Other duties as assigned by the Associate Director.SUPERVISION:Supervises the technical aspects of contract researchersEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:Post-secondary degree or certificate (i.e. university, college or technical training) completed in Data Analysis, Psychology, Health Science, Math or equivalent education.Knowledge of research design, data analysis, and program evaluation typically obtained through advanced level courses.One to four years of related experience working in a progressive environment (public sector environment is preferred).Previous School Board experience is an asset.SPECIALIZED SKILLS REQUIRED:Current applied experience in: database management, research design, project management, survey development, data selection, collection and analysis, statistical analysis and presentation, and report writing;Expertise with statistical software, database applications, word processing, spreadsheets (MS Word, MS Excel) and operation systems in a network environment;Broad knowledge base of elementary and secondary schools and provincial accountability requirements;Demonstrated data leadership;Strong interpersonal, problem solving and communication skills;Proven facilitation skills;Excellent skills in creating and writing of reports for organizations, such as school boards;A valid driver’s license and use of a vehicle.A commitment to service excellence.Contributes solutions to complex situations.Superior written, presentation and verbal skills.Familiarity with R-script, Power BI, Power Query, SQL and large-scale demographic data collection and data cleaning is considered an asset.WORKING CONDITIONS:Office building working environmentSome after-hours workVisual exertion, attention to detail and pressure to meet deadlinesApolice records check, with a Vulnerable Sector Search and Pardoned SexualOffenders Database Search , dated within 6 months prior tothe date of hire , is a requirement for employment with this Board.Please note that there have been reports that it has taken some candidates upto 6 weeks to obtain a police check.
