Job Description

What We Will Ask of You: As a key member of our Senior Leadership reporting to our CEO, you will effectively integrate agency initiatives into the culture and employee experience while fostering an inclusive, safe and professional workplace. The HRM holds a high degree of responsibility within the legal employment context for risk management, legislative compliance, safeguarding human rights, protecting personal information and ethically resolving contentious situations to a desirable outcome. The HRM ensures that highly qualified, compassionate and engaged employees are in place and have the knowledge, training and resources available to do their best work. The HRM analyzes, creates and oversees the implementation of the human resources strategy, work plan, specialized projects, professional competencies, change management and core training framework. This position is responsible for HRM Leadership, Performance and Rewards, Learning and Talent Development, Employee Relations, Organizational Design and Development, Leadership Development, Organizational Culture, Occupational Health and Safety, Recruitment and Onboarding, Human Resources Information System (HRIS) and compliance with employment and other related legislation. The incumbent develops and implements long-term goals and objectives to achieve successful outcomes for the agency, staff, students and volunteers. You will be providing direction and guidance as the direct supervisor of the Human Resources Coordinator (HRC) role and oversee HR related activities of the Payroll and Financial Analyst position.Primary Responsibilities:

  • Act as a strategic business partner to the Leadership team and advise the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) as requested.
  • Establish HR strategic goals by synthesizing relevant information: legislative obligations, sector trends, financial considerations, operational objectives, service mandates and strategic goals to inform the HR work plan.
  • Lead change management initiatives and special projects as assigned with a consistent and accountable manner with a focus on supporting employee engagement and a positive workplace culture.
  • Analyze and implement risk mitigation strategies in relation to areas of employment using best practice and legal support.
  • Act as the Developmental Services (DS) HR Strategy Lead for Provincial HR Network Committee for Central East Region.
  • Manage "length of service" and other staff recognition programming.
  • Support the analysis and review of organizational structure to ensure programs are sufficiently staffed and program mandates are supported.
  • Manage and evaluate the total compensation strategy and philosophy for the organization that is aligned with organization goals and strategic direction.
  • Perform administrative tasks as required
Qualifications:
  • Successful completion of Post-Secondary Degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, related field or equivalent.
  • Post-Graduate certificate or further studies in HR related field is an asset.
  • Certified Human Resources Professional or Leader (CHRP or CHRL) in good standing.
  • Certified Management Health and Safety Member, or ability to gain and maintain certification.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in the HRPA competency model: Leadership, Performance and Rewards, Learning and Talent Development, Employee Relations, Organizational Design and Development, Leadership Development and Organizational Culture, Occupational Health and Safety, Function Management.
  • Demonstrated experience of using best practices to lead the HR function.
  • Training in Coaching, Conflict Resolution, Interpersonal/Team Dynamics, Ethical Recruitment, Interviewing Techniques, Job Design, Job Evaluation, Compensation, Benefit Administration, Total Rewards, Performance Review methodology, training and development, recognition and motivation, Diversity, Mental health and Quality Assurance Measures is an asset.
  • Valid G-Class driver’s license for the Province of Ontario, access to reliable transportation and have valid proof of automobile insurance with driving for business purposes and a minimum liability of two million dollars.
