PRHC supports and encourages you to pursue whatever path you choose.WHAT YOU’LL DO:To provide assessment, intervention and planning in the areas of Breastfeeding Nutrition, Education, Lactation Services, and Psychosocial referrals to patients receiving care within the Women’s and Children’s services;WHAT YOU’LL BRING:Current IBCLC (International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners) CertificationDegree/diploma in the health care field (B.Sc.N. preferred)Minimum of 3 years’ recent related experience or equivalentCurrent BCLS certificationCurrent Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) CertificationExperience and advanced knowledge caring for premature, NAS and sick infants where clients need lactation support within in the NICU and beyondExperience in dealing with complicated breastfeeding issues (i.e primary and secondary milk deficiency, multiple births, breast reductions, nipple trauma, deep thickness wounds, mastitis, blocked ducts, FTT and ductal candida)Experience in assisting breastfeeding mothers in more than 1 settingWHO YOU ARE:Professional knowledge of the breastfeeding process, antepartum, intrapartum and post-partum heath care and psychosocial issuesKnowledge of premature infants, and from newborns to toddlersKnowledge of breastfeeding care and educational principles, practices, procedures and techniques required to assess learning needs, develop educational plan, and teach/counsel staff, patients and family members and evaluate the effectiveness of the instructionHighly specialized skills and abilities regarding: Assessment and intervention based on patient history and assessment, Initiation and modify complex situations and related therapies and interventionsAbility to provide information with consideration of mental, emotional, cultural, social and physical factorsKnowledgeable of education strategies to provide individual, family, and group counseling guidance on health promotion to assist patients and family members to participate in their health care plan and maintain good habits and prevention activitiesKnowledge of a wide range of acute and chronic conditions and wellness/preventative services commonly found in a primary care setting serving antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum patients and newborns to toddlersProfessional knowledge of health care principles, practices and procedures to assess health care needs of a wide variety of antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum patients and newborns to toddlers requiring comprehensive care; ability to develop care plans incorporating several disciplinesAbility to utilize the principles of telephone and walk-in patient screening, advice, communications and documentationAbility to recognize adverse signs and symptoms and to react swiftly and appropriately in emergency situationsKnowledge of pharmaceuticals and the effects on lactation for antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum patients and newborns to toddlers. Able to identify the appropriate route, dosing, desired effects, complications of use and recognition of adverse reactionsKnowledge of adult education skills (individual and group)Excellent verbal and written communication skillsExcellent interpersonal skillsExcellent computer skills (ie.
