Job Description

Job SummaryKumon is the largest after-school Math and Reading program for children in North America. We aim to develop each and every childs potential to the maximum through the Kumon Method of Learning.We are looking for teachers and current university student candidates (preferably in Teachers College) interested in working with children — those who enjoy helping children achieve academic success to reach their full potential.Please read the job description. Additional details will be given during the interview.Responsibilities and Duties

  • Work with up to two young students (ages 3+) at a time.
  • Instruct students through their classwork (for example: following directions, pronouncing letter sounds correctly, reading numbers correctly).
  • Assist other students in need of hints or explanations Reporting student progresses and difficulties to the Instructor and parents.
  • Provide appropriate praise and encouragement to students.
  • Grade worksheets with speed and accuracy and prepare student files for class
  • Record scores of classwork and homework into record books
  • Pull worksheets for students
  • Assist other staff during class down-time
Qualifications and SkillsApplicants must:
  • Be proficient in Mathematics and English. Have excellent oral, written language and communication skills
  • Quick learners with the ability to multitask.
  • Enjoy working with children of all ages.
  • Be punctual and reliable.
  • Be well mannered and polite; staff members are expected to set good examples for the students.
  • Be a current high school student.
  • Must be available Mondays through Thursdays 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM (hours may vary).
Experience:
  • Teaching: 1 year (preferred)
