What can I expect to do in this roleIn this role, you will:
  • work with integrated regional resource management planning teams
  • lead and provide biological expertise and input into the development or review of resource management plans for fish, forest, wildlife, wetlands, water and watersheds across the region
  • provide insight and advice to management on the development and management of review and planning processes
  • support public advisory councils and resource management planning teams by providing input on plan development and approval processes
  • prepare technical reports and briefing notes for senior management
Please note: This position is located at 300 Water Street in Peterborough, however, due to COVID-19, remote work arrangements are currently in effect. The employer is willing to consider remote work arrangements beyond COVID-19, however, attendance at the office will be required from time to time or as needed.How do I qualifyTechnical expertise:
  • You have expert knowledge of biological theory, principles and practices as related to resource management and integrated land use planning.
  • You have the demonstrated ability to interpret and apply key legislation, regulations, and policies and practices to participate and/or lead the development of fisheries management plans, water management plans, wildlife strategies, state of the resource reports and to participate in the development and review of forest management plans.
  • You have knowledge of and ability to interpret results of modelling tools and applications, procedures and techniques to ensure that fish and wildlife resources are managed sustainably.
  • You have experience in resource management and integrated land use planning.
Project management and leadership skills:
  • You have proven project management and organizational skills and an enthusiastic approach to lead and participate on a variety of planning teams through projects from development to approval.
  • You can coordinate the development and approval of planning processes to meet timelines.
Analytical, reasoning and problem-solving skills:
  • You have demonstrated analytical skills to help assess and advise on resource management plans.
  • You have proven problem-solving skills to respond to a variety of possible, and often complex issues.
  • You have shown the ability to work with groups representing varied interests towards a consensus.
Interpersonal and relationship management skills:
  • You have shown the ability to facilitate, build consensus, problem solve and reconcile diverse interests of project teams, agencies, Indigenous groups, non-government organizations, and other partners.
  • You have the demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with a variety of parties.
Communication skills:
  • You have well developed ability to convey advice, guidance, and recommendations to a variety of parties, such as planning teams or management.
  • You can prepare briefing material, review documents, and other correspondence in a professional manner.
  • You can create and deliver effective presentations to a variety of groups.
Computer proficiency:
  • You have proficiency with a variety of data management, word processing, spread sheet, presentation, communication, to prepare briefing materials, correspondence, reports, etc.
