Job Description

Fleming offers more than 100 full-time programs in Environmental and Natural Resource Sciences, Fine Arts, General Arts and Science, Technology, Skilled Trades, Community Development, Health, Business, and Justice as well as other Continuing Education courses.We are also extremely proud of our more than 73,000 Fleming alumni who are contributing to their communities in the region, across the province and around the world.Under the direction of the General Manager of Housing Services, with an indirect reporting relationship to the Director of Health, Wellness & Accessibility Service, the Student Development Case Management Specialist works as part of an interdependent and collaborative team that provides leadership to create a living and learning environment that empowers student success. The Student Development Case Management Specialist functions as a member of the Housing Services management team, providing advice from a social service lens to lead the development of policies and practices to enable co-curricular student learning and development. To create a safe and inclusive community, the role administers the Residence Community Standards and conduct framework to reduce recidivism. This involves the provisional of intensive case management to support the whole student as it relates to their living environment to develop resources and appropriate referrals to campus and community partners. You use diplomacy and tact to build rapport with a diverse range of students and staff at various levels of the organization. You have well-developed skills including, but not limited to mediation, conflict resolution, restorative justice, investigation and case management. You are expected to have a working knowledge of the mental health act and experience supporting individuals during crisis/trauma.2-year diploma/degree in Behavioural Sciences, Social Sciences, Counselling and/or Education5 years’ experience as a Registered Social Worker or Registered Social Service WorkerMental health first aid or equivalentASIST certification or equivalentNon-violent crisis intervention certification or equivalent (required within 6 months of hire)Alternative dispute resolution skills and/or restoration practice training (required within 6 months of hire)Assets:Threat assessment trainingHuman rights certificationFleming College is committed to building diverse, equitable, inclusive, and accessible learning and working environments.
