Spanning over 7,000 square kilometers, across diverse rural and urban communities in southeastern Ontario, KPR serves the Municipality of Clarington, Northumberland and Peterborough Counties, and City of Quinte West/Murray Ward.The Board is situated on the traditional territory of the Michi Saagiig Anishinaabeg people, serving three vibrant First Nation communities which include Alderville First Nation, Curve Lake First Nation and Hiawatha First Nation. Today, this gathering place is home to many First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples and we acknowledge the contributions and accomplishments of all Indigenous people across Turtle Island, current and through history.All positions in the Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board support the school’s priority of student achievement and the Boards mission to educate our students to excel in learning, to succeed in life and to enrich our communities.Employees demonstrate empathy and respect in all interactions, are committed to service excellence, and embrace change through innovation.As part of our strategy to provide on-going support for our schools, the Board is now accepting resumes from qualified applicants for the full-time position of System Analyst – Data and Reporting.The purpose of the Systems Analyst - Data and Reporting position is to design, maintain, support and troubleshoot issues with reporting services. This will include collaborating with stakeholders to ensure their data requirements are being met, and collaborating with Information and Communication Technology (ICT) staff to ensure the systems we have provide the data required.This position requires the highest degree of confidentiality and discretion as the duties involved working directly with various stakeholders and information, both internal and external to the Board, regarding highly sensitive and personal mattersMAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work directly with Senior Administration, the Analyst will be developing dashboards to support the assessment and monitoring of the Boards Multi-Year Strategic Plan (MYSP) and the Board Action Plan (BAP).
  • Work with all departments and the data requirement steering committee to determine the data requirements to improve processes within all areas of the board.
  • Create reports/dashboards within Power BI to efficiently provide the data required.
  • Transition various data sources into a supported/standardized system, to allow required reporting.
  • Lead the design of data, application and technology elements to support school administrative requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance and leadership in the development of school and business applications and respective technology, monitoring the data involved and advise improvements on data captured by the applications.
  • Assures compliance with requirements relating to privacy and information protection;
  • Leads business improvement initiatives and designs process improvements cooperatively with administrative departments through electronic forms and life cycle work flows; trains others to design electronic forms; creates end-to-end forms solutions from initiation to final record disposition and works with system analysts and data modeler to develop solutions
  • Participate on provincial committees to look at common applications delivered through the Educational Computing Network of Ontario (ECNO), ensuring alignment with Ministry and board objectives; and maintain a role on the product advisory committees provincially for business applications.
  • Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISION:
  • Direct supervision of:
    • Technical Services Specialist
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
  • Post-secondary degree or certificate (i.e. university, college or technical training) completed in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Computer Security, Wireless Information Networking or equivalent.
  • Minimum three years of related experience working in a progressive environment (public sector experience is preferred).
  • Experience using a variety of data/reporting systems (eg. SQL, Power BI, SSRS, Crystal Reports).
SPECIALIZED SKILLS REQUIRED:
  • Superior written, presentation and verbal skills
  • Strong SQL programming skills.
  • Knowledge of programming languages and analytic tools.
  • Experience in document management and electronic records management (schoolboard environment preferred).
  • A commitment to service excellence.
  • Contributes solutions to complex situations.
  • Effective coaching, mentoring, conflict resolution and relationship management skills
  • Valid driver’s license and use of own vehicle.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Office building working environment.
  • Moderate amounts of concentration, attention to details, visual exertion, and keyboarding.
  • Frequent pressure to meet deadlines, interruptions and distractions.
  • Some after-duty calls.
  • Occasional overnight travel.
