Job Description

Fleming offers more than 100 full-time programs in Environmental and Natural Resource Sciences, Fine Arts, General Arts and Science, Technology, Skilled Trades, Community Development, Health, Business, and Justice as well as other Continuing Education courses.We are also extremely proud of our more than 73,000 Fleming alumni who are contributing to their communities in the region, across the province and around the world.What Are We AboutAs a member of the Learning Design & Support Team the Teaching and Learning Specialist (Professor) works collaboratively with Deans, Chairs, faculty and staff to support program review teams by providing expertise relative to writing program and subject learning outcomes and mapping curriculum to outcomes. The Teaching & Learning Specialist (Professor) facilitates the design, delivery and evaluation of teaching and learning workshops and is responsible for the selection and/or design and delivery of teaching and learning resources, online and in print. The Teaching and Learning Specialist (Professor) will support academic leaders and faculty members on instructional design, curriculum development, effective teaching and learning methodologies/pedagogy, and assessments including both formative and summative evaluations. They will also work collaboratively with the Learning Technologists to support the College’s e-learning priorities by collaborating with faculty and administrators to select and evaluate digital tools and resources which enhance teaching and learning at Fleming. This work includes coaching faculty in the use of online/blending learning methodologies, using digital content, and sharing/modelling best practices for e-learning. These are temporary Non-Teaching Academic positions from June 2022 to August 2022.What We Are Looking For:The ideal candidate will possess a relevant combination of education and experience including:Minimum of an undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline

  • A Master of Education (Adult Education) is considered and asset.
  • Demonstrated expertise in curriculum development, instructional design and current teaching methodologies
  • Experience writing learning outcomes and with new course development
  • Knowledge of adult education principles and adult learning theory
  • Experience with incorporating technology into curriculum and the learning experience
  • An understanding of and commitment to equity in education; ability to work with students and colleagues from diverse backgrounds
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written), including the ability to deliver effective presentations
  • Strong leadership competencies, organizational, time management and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated desktop literacy skills including word processing, spreadsheets and presentation software
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a self-directed team environment
  • An active sense of curiosity, a strong enthusiasm for learning, personal and professional flexibility and a willingness to innovate and apply new teaching techniques in dynamic learning environments
