Project Manager, Indigenous Participation will lead the development and integration of our Indigenous Engagement plan for New Builds in Canada. This role leads some key efforts aligned with Our Values of working with Integrity, a flow down of AtkinsRéalis #39; Progressive Aboriginal Relations (PAR) Certification Commitment through the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business (CCAB), and our commitment to United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP).Indigenous Engagement success is based on active and meaningful participation in the communities locally and nationally, building trust, and tangible results (implementation of our plan). This position will be part of a culturally informed and dedicate team focused on meaningful Indigenous participation in Nuclear New Build projects.The Project Manager, Indigenous Participation - New Nuclear, will report to the Program Management Office - Nuclear New Build.This role will be based in Mississauga, ON.Your role within the Team:Responsibilities include developing work execution plans, assignment of our recruitment of project team members, budgeting, scheduling, subcontracting, and developing supplier strategies, risk management, and labour/project forecasts. In addition, the Engagement Lead will build relationships with both Indigenous suppliers and communities, create strategies for inclusion of Indigenous Peoples in project activities either through recruitment, development or other innovative methods and advocate for meaningful Indigenous reconciliation and actions within the larger Project teams. This role will require leadership of project team members across various functions within the project to support execution of the plan.

  • Essential Roles and Functions:
  • The Project Manager, Indigenous Participation is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring the following specific to Nuclear New Build:
  • Indigenous Engagement strategy and action plan.
  • Indigenous relations/awareness training plan.
  • Indigenous Engagement budget.
  • Indigenous capacity building strategy (including leveraging government programs to enhance Indigenous skills development and participation on the project).
  • Calendar of relevant Indigenous events and participation list.
  • Responsibilities also include:
  • Provide advice/resources/support for Indigenous Engagement New Build requirements.
  • Build meaningful Indigenous partnerships/relationships (including participation in community events, Indigenous conferences, and sponsorships).
  • Acting as the first point of contact with Indigenous businesses seeking business opportunities on the project.
  • Develop and help execute strategies to maximize Indigenous-owned business participation in the project.
  • Internally market capabilities of Indigenous businesses to the Project team, mapping scope need with available services.
  • Maintain alignment with AtkinsRéalis Indigenous Relations efforts/strategy.
  • Support AtkinsRéalis #39; Indigenous Relations team with coordination/marketing of Indigenous awareness campaigns or days of significance.
  • Provide all required reporting data for PAR commitment.
  • Responsible for regular formal reporting to sr. internal and client mgmt. stakeholders.
  • Maintain relationships with independent third-party business networks and organization that promote Indigenous and diverse businesses.
  • Develop and implement recruiting strategies for the project support Nuclear Canada #39;s Indigenous recruitment plan to maximize Indigenous representation within the project.
  • Support Nuclear Canada #39;s overall and project-specific Indigenous engagement Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Deliver internal and external presentations and workshops throughout Ontario, and potentially Canada, to Indigenous business owners or to stakeholders and service providers who also support Indigenous entrepreneurship, always ensuring that the messaging and content is tailored to the audience.
  • Ensure that all project activities are performed in accordance with corporate standards of ethical compliance, cyber-security, import-export regulations, intellectual property protections and security clearance protocols.
  • Accountable for rigorous risk analysis in accordance with corporate standards and application of industry best practice.
  • Approval of hours of work (e.g., timesheet approvals, overtime approvals, vacation authorization) for assigned scope/project in accordance with company policies, project policies and any applicable collective agreements.
  • Approval of Purchase Orders and Project Change Orders within the company or project tiered limits of authority.

The Ideal Candidate:
  • 8+ years #39; experience supporting various type of projects including government services, Indigenous Relations, project management, and drafting policy. Additional experience in, human resources/recruitment, architecture, construction, manufacturing, or engineering services projects would be an asset.
  • Experience with government and private procurement; with a focus on Indigenous business is an asset.
  • A well‐rounded understanding of Indigenous Peoples and Communities in Canada, both geographically and culturally, is required.
  • Speaking and facilitation experience in front of small and large groups.
  • Can build a team and can inspire them to perform and work together towards a common goal.
  • Lead by example and set high standards for Healthamp; Safety and Nuclear Safety Culture.
  • Excellent organizational, communication and customer relationship skills.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of project delivery methodology and major/large project delivery.
  • A degree in Social Sciences, Business, Entrepreneurship, Engineering or equivalent combination of education and entrepreneurship experience.
