Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION:HR Project Partners is currently accepting resumes for a Human Resources Manager on behalf of one of our clients. The ideal candidate would have experience working in a construction environment, experience leading HR investigations, and familiarity with application labour and employment standards.This position is in Point du Bois, MB. This is a contract position with a duration of 12 months.Reporting to the Site Project Manager, with a functional reporting relationship to the Executive Vice President, Human Resources and Corporate Support, this position provides advice and guidance to employees and supervisors working at the project site, with respect to corporate and client HR policies, practices, procedures, and legislative requirements.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Working with the local building trades in the submission and upkeep of referrals and orientations to the project.
  • Interpreting multiple collective agreements applicable to the trades workforce.
  • Investigate any employee issues occurring on site.
  • Facilitating and overseeing the Company’s HR program, policies, and procedures.
  • Participating and fostering community relations with Indigenous partners within the area.
  • Working with members of our HSEQ team to ensure the accurate record and documentation of employee files.
  • Coaching and providing mentorship to managers on site on all related human resources items.
  • Provide written reports on HR metrics and trends.
  • Supporting the administrative functions of the construction site as and when needed, this would include tracking POs and invoicing.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor or Diploma with a specialization in the Human Resources field.
  • Past experience working with a construction environment, preferably on a unionized site.
  • CPHR designation would be an asset.
  • Past experience leading HR investigations and in providing sound coaching advice.
  • Familiarity with application labour and employment standards.
  • Experience cultivating community relations.
  • Professional report writing and communication.
  • Ability to pass a drug and alcohol test (if necessary).
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ATTRIBUTES:
  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with little direction and/or within a team environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to forecast, analyze and work under pressure.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities; and
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
