Job Description

JOB SUMMARY: Residence Nurse Home Manager shall have the personality, ability, and temperament necessary to interact with supported persons in a manner that will respect and maintain the persons’ spirit, dignity and individuality.The RN is solely responsible for providing care that is within the scope of the RN practice.The Staffed Home Manager shall be responsible for the daily operation and leadership of the service ensuring that each supported person is provided with the opportunity and support for independence, learning and self-expression according to their abilities and choices.REPORTS TO: Director of Operations and Regional ManagerKEY DUTIESamp; RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. SERVICE TO SUPPORTED PERSONS
  • To ensure all professional program plans are implemented, regularly reviewed and updated in consideration of the total needs of each supported person.
  • To communicate with the oncoming RN regarding persons’ assessments, required monitoring, required nursing care, etc.
  • To update the MAR and medication change sheets where necessary.
  • To plan and evaluate nursing care and therapies of supported persons, consults with physicians, professional therapists, social workers and other professionals.
  • To educate CYWs regarding medications, medication side effects, supported person’s diagnoses, and nursing care is given; rationale and implementation; to ensure PCAs can identify and report back to the RN, matters that will need monitoring.
  • Ongoing assessment of wound care management.
  • To promote active advocacy for each person living in the home.
  • To ensure the supported persons are provided assistance and instruction as required in all aspects of their daily lives.
  • To ensure the persons have realistic choices in community recreational and leisure activities and that these activities are explored, evaluated and maintained on an individual basis.
  • To support persons in the development and maintenance of family and personal relationships.
  • To act as a liaison between persons’ homes, families and community resources.
  • To monitor the health and safety of the persons and ensure preventative techniques are in place.
  • To ensure that the home is maintained in a neat and clean state at all times.
  1. STAFF AND ORGANIZATION
  • To be supportive and provide guidelines to staff in their contact with the supported persons, their families, friends and community resources.
  • To recruit, provide orientation to, schedule and evaluate personnel.
  • To evaluate each team member’s progress annually in writing; provide follow-up, direction and performance manage where necessary.
  • To provide direction, guidance and support for team members to manage conflict openly and constructively.
  • To motivate, lead and establish a positive and creative tone for the Program/Service.
  • To schedule and attend staff meetings on a regular basis and to attend and participate in other meetings as required.
  • To meet with the Regional Manager and/or Directors as required.
  • To develop, in conjunction with the Directors, and maintain the Program/Service in accordance with the organization’s policies and procedures.
  • To ensure the personnel, payroll and financial records are maintained as required.
  • To participate in the development and monitoring of the annual budget for the Program/Service in consultation with the Directors.
  • To ensure all Licensing Standards and Regulations are met.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
  • Current Registration with the BCCNM.
  • Previous experience working as an RN; or recent graduation from a holistically oriented nursing program with a collaborative multidisciplinary approach.
  • Experience in IPP, PSP, HCP planning and implementation.
  • Current CPR “C” certification.
  • Class 5-driver #39;s license required; Class 4-driver’s license is preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with other staff, professionals and families.
  • Ability to make sound clinical judgments based on current nursing standards.
  • Ability to practice in a conscientiously therapeutic manner.
  • Ability to critically self-evaluate own performance.
  • Any qualifications or skills required by the Licensing officer.
