Reporting to the Manager of Revenue Services, the incumbent assists with the billing and collection of property taxes, utilities, and dog licenses in accordance with established legislation, by-laws, regulations and policy requirements. They are responsible to plan and supervise the work of a small team of customers service representatives engaged in collecting, processing and accounting of all City revenues including property taxes, utility charges, dog licenses and cemetery sales. Key duties include account reconciliations, reviewing and approving financial transactions, preparing journal entries, analysis, research, training, reviewing and documenting processes, system support and projects as required.The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications and characteristics:

  • Successful completion of accounting and business courses from a recognized post-secondary institution, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Considerable knowledge of accounting principles, practices and procedures, financial systems, and accounting operations
  • Five years’ of directly related work experience, including supervision, accounting, data analysis, and system support, preferably in Local Government
  • You have considerable knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and statutory requirements governing municipal financial operations
  • Effective communicator who builds and maintains strong working relationships
  • Works well under pressure and able to manage multiple competing demands
  • Exercises a high degree of initiative, independent judgment and action.

The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with our CUPE Collective Agreement.The 2022 annual salary range is between $59,914 - $68,701 and includes a comprehensive benefit package upon successful completion of a four-month probationary period.
