Job Posting - ForestryOrganization: Cape Breton Privateland Partnership (CBPP); Private woodlot non-profit organization serving small landowners in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. http://www.cbwoodlots.org/Position: General Manager, Cape Breton Privateland Partnership (CBPP)Location: Office based in Port Hawkesbury, NS; travel required throughout Cape Breton (mileage compensated); flexible work from home available depending on home location within Cape Breton.General Responsibilities: Reporting to the CBPP board of directors, the Manager is responsible for the day to day operations of the Partnership as well as helping develop and implement services and strategies that:-assist woodlot owners on Cape Breton sustainably manage their woodlots-grow membership in CBPP-raise awareness of the importance of sustainable woodlot management to Cape BretonSpecific Duties:-Develop and implement an annual operating budget and work plan-Work with service providers (contractors) to provide services to woodlot owner members; managing work flow system for staff and extension work.-Work with contractors to ensure that treatments and services carried out on member woodlots meets CBPP standards-Report on status of budget and work plan to the board of directors and work to develop new services and business strategies that grows the Partnership-Coordinate the annual CBPP silviculture program, including budget development, implementation strategy, and site monitoring.-Supervise and direct any CBPP staff and extension staff-Organize and implement member meetings and educational opportunities-Coordinate with NS Lands and Forestry on annual budgets and work plans-Seek out opportunities that provide for the growth of CBPP and its ability to help implement sustainable forestry practices on member woodlots.-Field work when needed to help with cruising, inspections and woodlot visits.-Communicate with government, industry, indigenous, membership and other woodlot groups throughout the province.Salary: $60,000 to 65,000 annually depending on experience; Basic health benefits contribution.-6 month probationary period to ensure competenceQualifications: Forestry with a business background considered an asset.
